As Bruce hasn't indicated he wants to jump in, I'm going to go ahead and close things down in my post. It'd be real incongruous to leave that scene unresolved in a plot jump. So we can play it one of two ways-either I hook Glory to take Gunshy aside after the tension has been diffused or you jump in now and hook me to finish things up.

Yeah, just give me leeway for Glorious to go storming off after Gunshy, and I'll take it from there. I don't know how likely it is that the tension will be diffused without one of the parties storming off to sulk.

Also, I agree with you about tension-building. Remember, folks, we like to avoid overtly fractious behavior within the Company, but our characters don't know that -- they just know that it doesn't happen often.

I have to say that the writing is exceptionally strong. Kudos to all.

I can write up a post, unless HG and T_H have matters in control. I'd just be starting to write, so I wouldn't want to bugger something up.

Eh. I'm not sure about the writing in that last post, but there she is.

I left it to you, Bruce, in case you wanted to add something or lay down the law with the Company. Feel free to have Saul do the same, though gently, subtlely, with Amina. Keep in mind that he's her father, and she's only days a widow of sorts. Gentle but firm.

Otherwise, Hawk, feel free to jump in there and pull Glory and Gunsy out of the tavern. I just left room for LD.

RJ,

I couldn't find your bio of Gunshy. If I need to change the pistol to something else, let me know.

And I hope that works character-wise. From what you've said in the thread, I took a direction other than the standard Gunshy. Particularly with Amina there at the end, but I left it so no one, Glory in particular, heard the more sensitive things.

Still, I'll do a rewrite if it's not the way you wanted to go.

I'm none too happy with mine, either, and hopefully RJ doesn't feel I abused Gunshy too badly. Might make a few tweaks, but I said basically what I wanted to say. Situation (at least momentarily) defused.

Great work. I had to do a major rewrite when HG posted, then I threw my hands up when T_H posted.

But...

Hawk, could you place your post after mine? Funny enough, I had Captain order Glory to escort Gunshy out of the tavern, so that worked splendildly, as did the part where they talk about Captain. It ties in nicely with my last line.


Tomorrow I move the timeline ahead by two days. It will happen around 6 est. I promise.

Hope you don't mind, but since you hadn't written him out, per se, but only that he was last seen making his way to the door I took the liberty. He was too good to pass up.

If it's a problem, I can of course change it.

Looks good HG. Henri has the knack of keeping part of his brain separate from what’s going on. So he can consume quite a lot of wine but is aware of the situation and notes what’s happening. Something like having a compartmentalized brain.. It comes in handy when negotiating a deal. You caught that rather well.

Val. - I'm liking Diego he has class.

Everyone - Just caught up on the scene in the tavern and it was sitting on the edge of my seat waiting to see who killed whom and how. Well done with a believable ending.

Whew, good writing all around. A pretty good sequence if I do say so myself. That's the kind of thing this project is all about.

Anyway, I may or may not get another post up before the timeline advancement. It would be interesting to see how garbled the story gets while it reaches the people who weren't there, heh.

Joe had him walking to the door at the end of his post, so I suggested he never made it, but instead took a seat at a table near it.

Nice work.

Small matter, however-at the end of my post, Gunshy lowers his gun of his own accord. That isn't to say he's all bells and whistles for the Corsairs, by any means, but it was a character hook for RJ. He doesn't trust them, and Amina least of all, but he believes she hates the Turks.

I'll leave that to him-he can still run with it I suppose, with some internal memorandum-but something to remember. Not to murder the cliche, but it's a... I suppose not softer, but certainly wiser and more empathetic side of him, as RJ had made clear OCC he has.

That's the bit I was checking on after I posted, to make sure it was kosher.

EDIT: Ah, and when I said Amina's voice matched Gunshy's I meant she was quiet as well as furious. The ones at the table-Renault, Captain, Saul, Glory-heard her per Bruce's post, but not his remark about their being his family.

As far as the rest, apart from Martel, are concerned, she's flirtatious and arrogant with a temper. Just bear that in mind.
