I'll be advancing the plot tomorrow, Friday, around 4 - 5:00pm EST. So please wrap up any hooks. HG will post, then I'll post, and then it's open season again.
And since the preliminaries are nearly out of the way, I'd like to find out which of you will not be able to stick this out. It makes my job much easier writing around characters that no longer have owners.
Everyone should have an idea of the pace by now, though I'll admit this start was more frantic than usual.
Either way, everybody's done a bang-up job. So hat's off and take a bow. From this point on things will get interesting.

Ogedai had not heard the song before but the song Frederick was playing seemed to give him a feeling of inner peace. Looking around, he noticed that some of the men had also stopped whatever they were doing to listen to the music made by the flute of Frederick. He leaned back across the ship's railing, closed his eyes and just allowed himself this few moments of serenity.
But all too soon, the song ended and Ogedai regretfully opened his eyes again to reality. He nodded his thanks to Frederick.
"Thank you von Screiber. Hopefully there will be time to hear your music again. Now go and enjoy this night."
Frederick gave his thanks and scampered off. Ogedai took a last glance at the back Frederick and then moved off to find some other activites to do.

Let me add to LD's accolades. Because I like to put things in perspective, Book VII crested 125 posts in a tad more than 72 hours; in that time, Book I and even the much-loved Book IV, widely considered our pinnacle, managed only about 75.
Just goes to show you that we can always do better than we did yesterday. Each Book has its own particular je ne sais quoi; this one seems to have energy and excitement. Given the way the last couple ended, that's good news so far as I'm concerned. Plus, there's some excellent writing to be found. Keep up the good work, one and all!

Its not your fault, I should have noticed the hook but it doesnt matter anyway since LD called that officer meeting.
Andre post up and a hook dangling....Mario post up and a little more back story and a connection with Captain. Since they are relatively close in age and Chen Cai is likely the most senior member of the company it seemed reasonable that he would take members of his family to Ancona during one of the company's infrequent down times.
I also have to echo the accolades of LD and T Hawk. This has been a VERY auspicious beginning for this book. I, for one, am very encouraged by it.
LD - Rant? Moi? Was it really? I didn't think it was, to be honest. Just wanting to ensure character integrity....

I saw him online earlier. I may have to switch some writers around when we enter the next phase. If worse comes to worse you'll have to wrap up the hook yourself.Amric said:

As far as lauding LD, he already knows how I feel about the whole thing, so I won't spill it all again, except to say this: Well done sir, well done. By the way, I'm hurt no one commented on the names I gave the cannon, I especially liked De Bloomfields Revenge myself, heh. Cooking up a post, but I think Ill let it sit for a bit in my head, Ill pop back in later tonight to put something down just in case I can only get one in before the plot advancement.

That I don't doubt, but I was trying to have Gunshy give as good as he got last post. Well, except for losing the bet -- but you have LD to blame for that, not me.
