I've been digesting what T_H wrote earlier about 'covering all the bases', and though I didn't really see it at first, I have to agree.
So, I want to take a step back, for the benefit of the new writers as well as those who have been around, and restate the goals of this collaboration.
Firstly, it's all about the story. There is a central theme in mind and I have several subplots and surprises along the way to ensure that it remains fresh. Therefore, I ask that anyone with a particular subplot approach me about it before putting it into motion. As the veterans know, I seldom turn down a subplot, and often time will work it into the main story arc and offer improvements. Subplots that appear out of nowhere can have disasterous or damaging results (IE: the sophist subplot earlier in this Book that almost forced me to close the project down and a similar out of the blue near-disaster in Book IV when the Emperor suddenly changed character under a different writer). I don't want to deal with that. That said, I have no problem with the 'sister held by the Turks' subplot. However, I have a better idea how to handle that, so expect a PM.
Secondly, Captain is still the boss. He may not always be around, but then he defers to his lieutenants. Unfortunately the people who write for the LTs are AWOL, but their 'personalities' are still in place. Please respect these personalities and don't use them as mouth pieces to pursue your own character's goals. It can be a fine line, but if in doubt, check with Vald, T_H or myself before following a course of action.
On a positive note, I applaud Sapphire and Lord Leto for quickly picking up the interaction portion of this tale. Hats off to you, it's not an easy thing to do.
I have a map, cleaned up courtesy of T_H, that I hope to post later today after adding the forces.
