Some may have noticed my Cyril post I shoved into the fight scene. That was probably the easiest FC post I ever wrote. I usually spend 1-1.5 hours to write, rewrite, and edit out the typos (if you guys wonder why I don't post more often, that's your answer), not that it shows  :D. And that's not counting figuring what the heck I want to write about... But the fight scene just inspired me, so there it is.

Second, I'm glad that Book V wasn't summarized. I think you guys are doing fine. And we usually do well with the fight scenes, so you guys will probably have a good burst of activity soon. I just hope EJ's and CA's RL calms down during that time. You realize that the only active infantry characters we have right now are Geoffrey and T_H's quartet? I believe in the olden days, that would be cause for promotion. :D

Re: being lazy. I was once lazy. Then my conscience kicked in: "Hey! You read the first post where LD specifically mentioned the time commitment required, and you signed on the dotted line. I'm going to have my buddy Guilt sit on you until you get your lazy fingers tickling that keyboard. Now move!" My conscience sounds a lot like Baer, except without the cursing.

Re: veterans vs. rookies. Great, one more reason why Kincaid has been given the cold shoulder...

Re: LotR. DAMN!!!

Re: Carl von Krieg. I'm guessing that this character is a reference to Carl von Clausewitz and his classic Vom Krieg. I still haven't the foggiest who any of the other chaps are.

Relocation update: I'm shipping out tomorrow morning. With luck, SBC will have my phone setup in the new apartment on 1 Aug. See you guys then.

You definitely don't give yourself enough credit, fusag; your contributions have invariably been excellent ever since you joined. Now, if you want to see a real hack writer, take a look at me... ;)

But the fight scene just inspired me, so there it is.

We had already finished our last Real-Time-Flurry-of-Posting when you joined up in Book IV, hadn't we? We haven't done any of that this Book, which is a real shame, because those nights are a lot of fun. Of course, they regularly last into the wee hours.... You know, maybe we should start scheduling these things in advance. ;)

Second, I'm glad that Book V wasn't summarized.

Me, too. Still, I can't help but feel this Book has been something of a letdown... though after the impressive achievement Book IV was, that might've unavoidable even without all the problems we've had.

You realize that the only active infantry characters we have right now are Geoffrey and T_H's quartet? I believe in the olden days, that would be cause for promotion. :D

Unfortunately, it's been that way for some time now -- right about the first round of dropouts, actually -- which is one reason why, up until recently, my guys didn't get a lot of play. They'd probably still be on the back burner if not for the fact that Maria is frozen in time for probably the rest of the book and all my other characters have their own plots going on. ;)

Re: Carl von Krieg. I'm guessing that this character is a reference to Carl von Clausewitz and his classic Vom Krieg. I still haven't the foggiest who any of the other chaps are.

Nope, but a good guess. One old Carl himself would no doubt approve of, if he had any idea who von Clausewitz was. ;)

Happy trails, fusag. I expect the fun will just be getting started by the time you get back. ;)

I have a very stupid firewall. It blocks what it calls "Offensive Content," or what most human beings call "perfectly OK". In the past it has blocked CNN.com/offbeat, newyorktimes.com (which is being offensive to the computer right now, actually), and (most interestingly) the official website of the US Navy.

Assuming that it won't block the FC Book VI thread, I am most eager to join on to Book VI. If I am allowed to view the thread  you can most likely count on a new character. :) Can't wait to jump in!

(Waiting for VI because to get in on the end of this Book would be kind of weird, when I can wait for a clean start to join up, and besides, I'm sorta busy now with my own AAR and EUtopia.)

Thanks Hawk for relaying the message, if nobody pick up the conversation with Johan in the command tent, then I'm going to forward it tomorrow, for now, I'm ready for battle :D

By the end of next week. Don't let this get in the way of your vacation plans. :)

I have to do it. With such a bare-bones operation running it's hard to keep the plot moving, especially when most of the main players have disappeared. Certain plotlines will have to remain unresolved.

I'm going to take a break after this. If people want to continue, then I'll want ironclad assurances that it will be worth my time and effort. Sorry to sound harsh, but I've been rather disappointed with the committment - whether it was legitimate (I know we can't help RL) or due to dropping out without so much as a goodbye, leaving a lot of plotlines dangling and writers twiddling thumbs.

I know, and I understand, nothing to do about it, and yet I cannot help to feel sorry

You've earned all the breaks you care to take, one can only hope that it'll mean more time to your own stories on this board, be it CoW, EU2 or the upcoming Victoria.

You'll have my not only ironcast, but tempered steel assurance, but I guess you knew that already :)

There's always hope. There's a plot in place for Book VI. It's the committment I need.

Thanks V. :D
