LD,

Well, I just finished my last one. On-line exam. Hate them with a passion, but oh well. Everything should be moving again for us student types by tomorrow.

F,

tetelestai - John 19:28- Jesus' last word from the Cross in John's Gospel. Perfect Passive Indicative 3rd singular of telew , meaning "It has been finished and remains finished."

TheF are you taking your rubber boots? I just watched a news report about the increased flooding and I think you might need your boots. It seems that they have finally decided on a way to try to control the flooding. A rather innovative idea they’re using. Have a good trip.

I actually read somewhere that a combination of

Rotting oakpoles under the houses,
Increased overall water level in the lagune,
decreaing land level overall in the alpine bassin,
deepened sealanes in the lagoon,

All create a condition that the city will get a raise in water levels app. 2 m above what was prevalent in the 1880 (IIRC) with in the next century.

You know, we always joke about California sliding into the Pacific, but dang... it sounds like it may happen over there. I'm all for a pool in the back yard, but not *insert any particular large body of water*

It was strange to watch people walking in the plazas, which were under a foot of water. If I remember right there are three main entryways for the water to enter the lagoon. They are going to build walls that will be under water but when a high tide threatens the city they will fill the walls with air and raise them up to stop the water from entering. It's going to cost several billion dollars.

Its about time too, this has been going on for decades, if not centuries, smae article stead that instead of low number of two digit days of flooded st. square it will rise to one out of three days, worst in summer and fall, the main tourist season,

Both times I've been there its been flooded to the estend that once I almost stepped over the edge of a dock for a water bus and into the grand canal :D simply because I was unable to see in the rain where the pavement ended and the canal began.

IIRC, the rotting poles are causes by the use of speedboats from the '60 and on, the propellers beat air into the water, causing the oak that had been carrying the city for centuries to rot, sinking the entire city.

Ill take care of the Landen hook, and I have something in mind for Robert (of its alright with you shawng1), as well as a few others.

Post up. A hook for CA -- though it seems he's gone quiet lately. I would hate to lose more important folks. ;)

Anyway, that shouldn't be taken to mean that my computer's functional, but work continues...

No kidding. It has to be mass fatigue, or mass something-or-other...

The same malaise is affecting the bAAR and the SolAARium. Both of those venues are close to being shut down. And who knows about this...

I'd say mass Victoria, all "old" forums from here to OT are slow, this will bounce back though, I think SM said it right when he said that finals sort of got in the way.

As for solAARium it hasn't had a decent new subject in months. *Shrugs* perhaps the "guesss the author took over those diehards that were left?"

Eh, I'm not worried about it. It goes up and down in the Free Company anyway. One person posts then its flooding for a few days. Then it slows down again, and as less people post blah blah blah. It goes on.

Personally, I was singularly unable to write until this morning, just totally unable to focus.

I'm back in town again. If I can manage to get into the right frame-of-mind, I'll write a post (or two) tonight.

If family life permits :) I'll have another post up in a couple of hours,

The_Hawk, I assume Maria tells Frederik what Sean told her? And at least tell him about the trip to the sea? ;)

TheF I know you are of for the weekend, so no hassles about responding to the hook.

V

EDIT, TheF you posted at the same time :) Good, I'll see if I can get something down soon then

Nah, I know, I just reread Hawk's post, I'll continue to assume that only Sean and Captain knows the whole thruth, Syban, Catherine and Cosimo, knows the attack was faked and Frederik only suspects it.

As to the invite, I was uncertain whether that had been extended to them yet, since only Sean has mentioned it, I was trying hard to avoid ESP. ;)

Sean said to his messenger to leave it with Cosimo. Thus it's fair to say the Medici's knew about it as well. And thus it almost certainly would've been passed along already, unless Cosimo's taken to meddling in Sean's personal affairs (not likely). ;)
