I also want to stress to others, that you can continue on with the 10th but please make sure you use the date headers that we've been doing That way we can warp back and forth between the tenth and the 16th to when LD advances the story.

thanks, and by no means are we at "the 16th" now. As RJ stated, we wanted to get a side plot done before LD advanced the story.

EDIT>> and using the date headers means that when T_H gets around to book V he can rearrange the posts into proper sequence.

Geesh. We start off with Frederik and Maria, and then it quickly develops into Frederico and Maria, Captain and Constance, Danny and Marie, Lochlan and Alessandra, and possibly Erik and this other Maria. There must be something in this Italian air...

Also, isn't Captain starting to wonder where all his officers went?

About the post where Lochlan comes all undone, let me say this. I've been writing in the Free Company Saga since I think October of 2001, about a year and a half now.

All of that time writing, from then to now is what has made me able to express the depths of emotion I hope you all saw in that post.

Thank you for allowing me to come with this journey on you all, and for supporting me all the way here, and beyond.

RJ, that was very very good, I know I have only "followed" your work over the past two books, but I must say you have come a very long way from the action oriented posting to the more thoughtfull insights of now, both as a character and as a writer, very impressive.


Hawk, you are so right, perhaps Johan should pursue that barmaid, while we're on a roll?

We are sort of having that kind of interlude T_H aren't we, heh.

Whats really interesting, is that all the officers went to Florence. But they all went in different groups. I suppose Lochlan and Erik could always crash the little Medici party . If not though then they'll be "starting back" around noonish on the 17th.

Frederik, *could* possible know that Lochlan has arrived, or more likely that Otto is being picked up, I mean you don't move cannons through Florence without causing just a tad of a stir

But since neither Hawk nor me have "arrived" in Florence yet, I think it would get a tad complicated, but you never know.

I assume that those app. 7 days travelling you used will be about the same for Maria and Fredeik, so they are just only arriving?

Well, Maria and Frederik left the same day as Lochlan and Erik, a few days after Otto. Who knows if they knew each other was leaving, its more a question of whether or not Frederik and Maria will be travelling back with the cannon.

If their going to be staying past the morning of the 17th, then they won't be with them, though they could theoretically catch up on the road or something. But since I don't think the world is ready for Lochlan to storm into the Medici palace and cause problems I suppose the gate crashing idea will have to go .

Anyway, if it works, then cool. If not, then no worries.

Seems lately I haven't been able to write as much as I used to from work, but on days like today when I'm in the office at oh my god it's early :30 it gives me a chance to plot and write for a good three hours...

Expect an Erik and then Wu'tu/Baer post shortly After I do a couple.. *shudder* work related things. Damn work, getting in the way of a perfectly good writing morning.

EDIT>> and just for the record... Erik and Maria isn't going anywhere It just made since that a Lady would have a woman servant to help get dressed, wash, etc.. so Erik thought he'd make the best of the situation

I estimated 12 days for the cannon, barring any unforseen difficulties. We made the trip in 6 so figure with the beasts of burden and more leisurely "stroll" to double that figure.

Great posting, everyone. Hey RJ, it's not that tough after all, is it? Just use the Jack Nicolson rule.

If there's no objection, I'll move the timeline ahead to take into account the return of Lochlan, Asia Argento, Jaeger, Maria, Otto and his cannon. That would put the date somewhere around May 29, I believe. I think that jump will accommodate most of the travelling required to move the plot(ting) along. I'll do this on the weekend.


BTW, another Maria. One of these days I'm going to count the number of Marias that have passed through the FC Books. Trust me, there's a lot.


V, thanks for that link. Carmagnola was featured at the end of Book III, when a younger Captain and Sforza defeated him in battle.
