Great posts all, can't wait for the cataclysm to start :).

I might do a followup on the discussion and on EJ's post when I find the time and a computer at the university. Otherwise I'll just wait for Stroph..

Excellent string of posts, :)

SM, I in particullar like the way your posts sort of feeds of ours, despite Foscari being completely isolated :) and the way you managed to make Frederico's action both incompetent and not at the same time.

To all of you whp filled my mailbox during the night, I have responded (I think) :)

Oh and any news on MrT?

Baer and Wu'tu vs. Johan and Bernard? In a "friendly" game of chance? I like it. I like it a lot. EJ is supposed to move forward on whatever he was planning the last Wu'tu Baer post, but after that, I'm sure I can steer them into the tavern.

It was something like that I had in mind, I know that you and EJ still have to resolve something, but I figured that this way Norgs would have a chance to reposnd if he is online and everybody else can take a game with Bernhard until Wu'Tu and Baer shows up.:)

Damn, I go away for a day and come back to find us hip deep in sinister plots. Very nice writing everyone. I'm looking forward to see where this leads.

You don't cause problems in your own back yard, do you? There's no sense getting thrown out now, is there? It doesn't stop any of them from flirting, does it? And who says Dad knows what son does on his spare time? I thought I'd toss the daughters in for some playful tension. There are probably other girls working there, too, anyway. :)

Relax...

Oh, don't worry, I figured that the officers would frown on it, that's why Johan chose a different tavern on Rhodes, except for Fritz off course, but I figured it wasn't him that did the hmmm catching then :D

What should make the men stop and consider trouble when hormones are in charge ;)

I was just looking forward to when John and Dieter get caught:)

I don't know what the reference is, but there is a Hawkwood that was condottiere in Italy (1320-1394) for Florence, he came from Essex IIRC.

Indeed, Hawkwood of the White Company, the most famous condotterie of the previous generation. Reputedly terrible in war but magnanimous in peace. I've often though Captain and he were in the same vein.

CA, back to you on the Florentine front. I'll have more from other luminaries later, if the booze doesn't catch up with me first -- and if LD doesn't rush too much to move us ahead. ;)

All,

If you guys have something on the go then I'll wait for it to play out. No problem. I was just anticipating some down time for the weekend, as usually happens. Just give me a heads up when you feel I can advance the timeline.

RJ, T_H is correct about Sir John Hawkwood. He was as famous for his skill as a soldier as he was for his honour - a rare thing for mercenaries back then. The Free Company has taken a page from their book. If you can ever find a copy, read 'The White Company' by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. It was written at the turn of the century, so the style is a little flowery, but it's a very good read. In fact, you may be able to find an online copy, as I'm sure the copyright has long expired.

BTW, I know the Hawkwood you were thinking of. Michael Moorcock strikes again!!

I managed to get through all the e-mails, responding to each. Man, you guys send them at the weirdest times! :)

Well as I said LD, my stuff (and EJ's by necessity) will be dated in advance. The idea is that Lochlan and Erik will return about when you jump the time ahead too. Since were trying to get the bulk of the side plot done today and tommorow.
