The Estate system seems interesting... Is it moddable? I am looking forward to having the Jews, the Slaves (for colonial nations, some provinces in the cotton belt were majority slave populations) and Women Suffragists (in the extended timeline) this way.

Merchant Republics [And Celestial Ming] have Factions; not estates.
Well early on they said that estates would replace the factions in merchant republics but not in ming. Wow that's boring.

I mean, I like that it did not get replaced as it would make merchant republic play like a normal nation.

Wait merchant republics no longer get estates?
Nope.

These guys cannot get the Church estate: Merchant Republics, Native Councils, Siberian Native Council, Celestial Empire, USA, Nomads, colonial nations
These guys cannot get the Nobility estate: Merchant Republics, Native Councils, Siberian Native Council, Revolutionary Republic, Revolutionary Empire, Celestial Empire, Nomads, colonial nations. And if Common Sense is active, English Monarchy and the 2 constitutional governments.
These guys cannot get the Burghers estate: Merchant Republics, Native Councils, Siberian Native Council, Celestial Empire, Nomads, colonial nations
These guys cannot get the Cossacks estate: Merchant Republics, Native Councils, Siberian Native Council, Celestial Empire, Nomads, colonial nations, anybody that does not have eastern units, anybody that is not christian
These guys cannot get the Nomadic Tribes estate: Merchant Republics, Native Councils, Siberian Native Council, Celestial Empire, Nomads, colonial nations, anybody that is not nomad
These guys cannot get the Dhimmi estate: Merchant Republics, Native Councils, Siberian Native Council, Celestial Empire, Nomads, colonial nations, western tech nations, anybody that is not muslim


What Wiz said didn't come to pass. Likely did not have time to implement it (as that would require reworking how factions are given).

So merchant republics are keeping that terrible faction system instead of the much better obvious replacement?

That's highly debatesble.

I got plans to switch most nations to merchant republic just to avoid the estates.

It seems like the estates bonuses are mostly economic.
So I'm giving up autonomy, which lowers economy, for a boost to another part of economy.

I might be wrong and estates could be balanced and give good bonuses if micro managed. But I will have to wait and see.

So it would unfortunatly seem. Wow not only do they remnove the hansa, they didn't update the merchant republics. Well I guess I won't be playing Lübeck either then. Hello hamburg.... to bad there are no fun formable tags there though (they all force you to become a monarchy).

You haven't even played it yet... and the merchant republic faction system really sucks. The Hansa is my most played nation I know the merchant republic system better than I'd like.

I'm hoping the next dlc will have major reworks for merchant republics. Adding the hansa back in some capacity, and updating the merchant republic government form.
