Would it be possible to give a list of all bending disciplines ( specialities and generalities ) available in this mod somewhere? That would be really cool of you guys to include. Also, how are your characters supposed to learn bending specialities ( Lightninbending, Bloodbending, Healing, Sandbending, etc. ) outside of being thaught by their parents? And finally, how is it that you can't use the character creation DLC to give your character those specialities? I was trying to play as a custom sandbender, but he couldn't sandbend... Great work, by the way, love your mod!

Specialties are still in development, mostly because creating a system for them that makes them both rare and worthwhile would take a good amount of time. It is possible to develop some of these bending disciplines in the mod currently, but they're very rare. Also, I thought you were able to choose Sandbender in Character Creator, so thanks for pointing that out, you will be able to in the next update.

I can easily list all bending specialties in the mod so far for you:

Firebender: Lightening-bender, Combustion-bender
Waterbender: Blood-bender, Healer
Earthbender: Seismic Sense, Metal-bender, Sand-bender, Lava-bender
Airbender: Void-bender, Levitation, Spiritual Projection

Progress on 1.0

Hello there. Not time for another Dev Diary just yet. I just wanted to post a little update on progress. There have been a few changes since last time. As you might notice, this version is no longer being referred to as 0.1, but as 1.0, because as I've outlined in earlier diaries, this new update will be considered the 'full' version. It also means we suffered all those additional zeroes in previous versions for nothing, so that's a shame.

In addition, there will be no fifth developer diary for the United Republic of Nations, at least, in this update. After the Earth Kingdom dev diary, the only wait left will be until full release. This is mainly because it's about time the update got released, as well as the fact that right now, there's very little time left to add more support to the LoK era bookmarks.

Oh, and one more thing. Most development time in the past few weeks has been sunk into them. Since progress has come along far enough, I'm willing to confirm they will be present in 1.0. Portraits.

portrait_showcase.png

Roku - Sokka - Sozin

1.0 will launch with these portraits included, and if you are using the Steam Workshop version, will require subscription to a new seventh part of the mod. In addition, a sub-mod will be produced, adding custom portraits for canon characters that will also be released on the Steam Workshop shortly after the update.

There are several portrait groups, four for the major cultures, Fire Nation, Air Nomad, Earth Kingdom and Water Tribe, but also three for minor cultures, such as Sun Warriors, Foggy Swamp Tribe and Sandbenders.

Of course, these are still very much a work in progress, but I thought you should all know why this update is taking so long. We have the talented artist Xironyne to thank for most of this, but he dropped out of the project a long while ago, so I've taken up finishing his work. There was a lot left unfinished, and I'm no artist, so my efforts are a bit rough, but I think they look fairly promising.

Many, many thanks! Also, if I may allow myself to make a suggestion: maybe you guys could, once it is out, use the next expansion ( Monks and Mystics ) to make it possible to find masters in those disciplines, essentially making some societies into bending schools; finding a lightningbending master would be official and very much public, while a bloodbending master would be something very secretive and underground... it would also make it easier to use them. Or, there is always the option of making it an event since you guys seem very skilled with those! Finally, thank you for everything and, by the way, those portraits you are working on look amazing and so is you're whole mod.

So theirs still have one last dev diary to do before release? just wanted to make sure, just getting excited about trying the new features, as someone who only got into it recently. Really enjoying it so far playing as the earth king and trying to get out from under the dai li's thumb. One question for people however, does the incapable modifier cause issues in fertility? and would their be any possibility of their being more non-landed female couriters in the earth king realm? Ive just noticed that their is fundamentally no one in the court, which makes it an issue when it comes time to marry children near the beginning. Oh, and is their any issues with keeping the dai li after you remove them from power? or any way to centralize the earth kingdom more after you restore the king?

Oh, and is their any issues with keeping the dai li after you remove them from power? or any way to centralize the earth kingdom more after you restore the king?

There certainly will be a few new additions for the Earth King. The Courtier problem is due to the fact in previous versions, there were no non-landed characters in the history files, so every ruler started with no family. Now, in the upcoming version, with simulated history, each ruler already has an existing family, so there's no ten-twenty year gap at the start of the game where there's few courtiers.

Right now, keeping the Dai Li will result in you losing power if you ever enter a regency again, whereas disbanding them removes that possibility. There's also no ways to centralize the Earth Kingdom after reclaiming power. Both things will be overhauled in the next version and replaced with a new mechanic I'll reveal soon.

What Societies are you thinking of adding? The Equalists and New Ozai are some obvious ones, but what about non-canon ones taken from vanilla (like a Dark Spirit worshipping order).

One last thing I remembered bugged me. Is their any way to add strait crossings to some of the major earth islands? or give some boat mercenaries? Thats the one last gripe I had, was that when the Fire nation attacked or if my vassels started to have issues on the other islands to the west, I wasnt able to reach them because of boat issues. Is this intentional and just something I havent picked up on? or something else?

What Societies are you thinking of adding? The Equalists and New Ozai are some obvious ones, but what about non-canon ones taken from vanilla (like a Dark Spirit worshipping order).

It depends on the options available. The Five-Seven-Fiver religion has already been removed in this update, and it will be reintroduced as a society. New Ozai Society is an obvious one, seeing as it literally has society in the name, but I never thought of an Equalist society before. That maybe possible.

Other than that, both the White and Red Lotus will function as secret societies.

On boats, I didn't know the Earth Islands had such a problem. There are changes to straits in the update, particularly in the Fire Islands, but I will look into the Earth Islands area.

I only noticed the movement issue when I tried to command armies to move from the central island, where Ba Sing Se is located, to the western Island, the one closest to the FIre Nation. Moving from Ba Sing Se to the desert was fine, but It would never let me path to the west one.
