You are statistically more likely to die in a car accident than from a shark attack, but people seem to fear the latter more than the former and are terrified to get in the water at the beach when they'll happily drive down there without a second thought. There's a reason many of our fears are called irrational fears, yet nevertheless they still hold power over many people.

Statistically you're more likely to die from a falling cocunut than a shark attack, but you're more afraid of a shark because it's a shark. Irrational fears come from evolutionary traits we've picked up before developing civilization. That's why we're still scared of the dark (because predators might be lurking in the dark) and feel fear when someone's watching us from behind.

Small note: Dag Hammarskjöld never married or had children, so it's a bit unlikely that his "descendants" would be doing much of anything. He did, however, have plenty of cousins and nephews (most of whom were fairly prominent in the Swedish government and civil service themselves), so it could easily be one of their descendants expressing concern for the family legacy.

While I can certainly understand the sensitivities over the Hammarskjöld name (an unwise choice) those are impressive looking warships. I can only imagine that in the long run their image will boost that of UNPCOM far more than hurt it among the general public (well, short of a disastorous defeat at least.)

Not really. If you look you can see a Nelson Mandela.

Eleanor Roosevelt - First Lady, first US rep to UN, drafted Universal Declaration of Human Rights etc etc

Chiune Sugihara - Japanese diplomat who personally saved 6,000 Jews during WW2

Nelson Mandela - Ended Apartheid united South Africa etc etc

Sophie Scholl - German teen activist who led internal resistance to the Nazis

Waangari Maathai - Kenyan environmental activist and Nobel prize winner

I would say the theme is people who saved (or tried to save) people and places. Which would be consistent with the Peackeepers’ aim in protecting humanity and their previously seen motto ‘None Shall Make Them Afraid’

Also how are we pronouncing UNPCOM? ‘Unp-com’? ‘U-N-P-Com’? ‘U-N-P-C-O-M’?

Mainly because of my nationalism, I wish to include William of Orange in the lineup. For his time, he was incredibly progressive supporting Freedom of Concience, allowing Catholics to freely worship in the Protestant Netherlands as long as they weren't too open about it.
