This session was a bit shorter, lasting from October -44 to the beginning of -45.
The Axis were able to expand in Africa, until they ran to a wall of massed Allied troops. Any further advance is impossible, and the Allies have the initiave. However the Axis positions are strong in tough hilly terrain, so the Allies have stayed in their positions as well. There were several naval battles, and in one of them the Axis lost all their TPs and their precious CAs and BB. Now the transport production has started from scratch, and the speed of deploying troops to Africa has slowed down considerably. The main objectives of West Africa, Algiers and Casablanca weren't reached. In Libya the precious base of Tripoli was conquered, followed by Bengazi. Tobruk was held for a short while, but later fell to the Allied masses. But the most significant sources of rares have been secured, not to mention several sources of oil. Germany suffered from a lack of rares for a short while, but has now been able to save her industry with the African rares and some trading with Finland.
Central America also became a theatre of war. For some reason Horundas left the Allies and joined the Axis. Then the powerful army of Horundas invaded the Allied El Salvador and annexed it. The other Central American States are staying neutral, but the Axis have a base of power in Central America... unless US marines show up!
The Soviets continued their costly advance in China. At first it seemed that the Chinese could hold on forever, but then they started to have supply issues. Nanking has fallen, so the last VP prov is Shanghai. But the Red Army has taken massive casualties, and the urban environment is difficult to fight in.
In the Pacific the Soviets were more successful, puppeting Indonesia and annexing the Philippines.
The Germans should have the capacity to deliver a nuke in 3 months. The 2nd nuke will be ready in 4 months.
Also Franklin D. Roosevelt has died. Truman has taken over, and the USA even moved 1 step to authoritarian!
Horundas joins the Axis and invades El Salvador.
At the start of the African campaign, the German panzers faced heavy air bombing. One motorized division was lost, and several int squadrons had to be sent to Germany for refitting. But the Brazilian airforce was driven away.
The Soviets annex Tannu Tuva.
Guderian and Rommel quickly crush the French.
Tripoli falls without any significant resistance to Rommel's Tigers.
Germans face the first Brazilian troops. Apparently their task is to buy time for the Americans to arrive...
Brazilians holding the line.
Montgomery is totally humiliated!
Massive air battles are fought between Horundas and El Salvador. The legend of Central American fighter aces has been born! Though the rest of the world has already moved to rocket fighters...
Dönitz's wundersubs prove to be useful. However the Allied DD mass still rules the waves...
Then the real action in Africa begins. Patton is back with his new tanks, and he is so confident after Sweden that the Germans will be driven to the sea in a matter of weeks.
But the German panzerarmies hold the line... barely.
Guderian's blitz continues, with the French Army retreating. But British troops are slowly arriving from Egypt...
The first Soviet assault on Nanking was a disaster. But the Red Army doesn't give up easily...
Sturmoviks revenge the loss by pounding the Chinese troops in Nanking.
Many Red Army soldiers found their final resting place in China.
In just 10 days the Allies have increased their size to 36 divs. Rommel is in a tough position, holding the key point of the line. Will the line hold?
The Top 12 has stayed pretty much the same during this short perioid. The Soviet IC continues to climb, while the US gained about 50 IC from her IC construction program. Germany lives on, maybe gained 2 IC from Africa!
And here are the 3 best Soviet leaders. Apparently legendary leaders like Kulik and Konev were killed in the purge. Vlassov and Zhukov have led the troops as Field Marshals for a long time. Rokossovsky is one of the skilzl masterz, being the spearhead always as a Lt.General. But still 6 years of uninterrupted fighting with massive losses in nearly every battle. You gotta respect that...
In update #2 the size of the African battles are growing fast. Dönitz sends his new wundersubs to raid the coast of Florida. Germany finally researches revolutionary jetplanes, that are superior to the unreliable rocket interceptors. Also how long can the Chinese hold on to Nanking? What is the fate of Chiang and the Chinese Dragon?
