If Colossal Order were to release a Cities:Skylines 2, they would wanna know if it's gonna be profitable. So, therefore, maybe we should discuss which factors would get us to upgrade to CS2, as opposed to just keeping CS1 as our only CS game, so that CO would know how to make it worth while.

Here are my factors that would determine whether or not I would upgrade:
-Upgrading to CS2 must be fair for owners of CS1 DLCs
-Proper waterways, including private boats and a distinction between fresh water and salt water, a distinction between car and passenger only ferries
-A much, much higher maximum vehicle limit
-More than 9 tiles- Minimum 21 tiles by default
-More DLCs- there's not much point upgrading if we're only gonna have the base game
-A proper seasons DLC- Including a default biome that allows you to experience all the features and weather phenomena available. Non-default biomes can be applied for people who want things such as deserts or tropics or what have you. Biomes can be applied to all maps, rather than having predetermined biomes apply to specific maps
-I'd want it to be much easier on my graphics card. CS1 takes a big toll on my graphics cards
-The ability to zone non-car roads/paths, and mixed zoning

A combination of all of these factors would determine I download CS2. What would determine it for you? I mean, if CO were to develop it, it's only fair for us to tell them what we want to see in it, thus how to make it profitable

If you would have worked within a business sector before you would know that nothing is fair also in the gaming sector.
Just take a look at The Sims 3 and The Sims 4 finally those two games look like each other and almost have similar DLC's and still plenty of people purchasing The Sims 4. This will also be the case when The Sims 5 at some point will be released..

As a business, CO can sell whatever products they want, at whatever price they want. As a consumer, I am entitled to purchase whatever I want, based on whatever factors I want. Ultimately, it's my discretion on which factors I use to purchase CS2, and whether or not it's fair is one of the factors for me. If other people are willing to purchase CS2, even if unfair, that's their discretion. I'll use my discretion, and everyone else can use their discretion

I hope the lack of news about new CS content means that CO is separating from Paradox.
I don't think so. I emailed CO less than a month ago, and they not only brought me here, but also told me to email Paradox myself. Also, I don't think they would separate themselves from the Paradox because this forum is too valuable for them

When I went to university, they taught us that for every one complaint a company receives, there are ten people who have the same complaint but don't voice it. as far as Colossal Order is concerned, I would believe that there would be significantly more than 10 people, considering that the best method of contacting CO is through this niche forum. Annecodotally, I can tell you that it's a lot more than 10, because as I have created a thread about car ferries on Cities:Skylines, if you type in "Cities:Skylines car ferries" into your search engine, you will see dozens, if not hundreds of people, over a few different websites, complaining about the lack of car ferries, and that's just the ones who are vocal about it on popular websites

Considering that there are at least 2 people (myself included) on this forum who have voiced our opinions about how CS2 would have to be fair, I could only imagine how many more would be thinking it without necessarily voicing our opinions.

If you look up "Cities:Skylines Tuna", you'll encounter the occasional person who complains that tuna is considered a fresh water fish

Also, even if there were discounts for owners of CS1 DLCs to upgrade to CS2, I wouldn't see the point in upgrading, if there wasn't a significant enough increase in the amount of features

Ultimately, whilst a company can, in theory, sell whatever they want, in practice, they're bound by their consumer's willingness to buy
