The -exact- benefits of piety for badboy on VH

So what are the exact badboy reductions benefits for piety each year on very hard mode for...


Piety of 100,

Piety of 300,

Piety of 500,

Piety of 1000,

and Piety of 2000?

Just tested itself on a one-province county in Angus, Scotland on Very Hard.

I started with 100 prestige, gave myself 10 badboy and waited a year. The results were....

I then went to 9.8 badboy a year.


So for piety....


100 = -.2 per year

200 = -.4 per year

300 = -.6 per year

500 = -1 per year

1000 = -2 per year!




So if a bishopric gives you about 150 prestige, then it removes about .25 badboy per year. Meaning it takes away MORE in 3 years then simply granting a province would. (which takes away about .5)

Ergo.... piety can be pretty damned sweet, especially if you grab a bunch early in a king's career when he's young and has no diseases! (and he's able to conquer a lot!)

Doesn't BB decay naturally with time? It seems you aren't accounting for that.

At 0 piety, I lost .02 badboy in one year. Which means 100 piety takes away .18 badboy per year.

So, the new formula is....

100 = -.18 per year

200 = -.36 per year

300 = -.54 per year

500 = -.9 per year

1000 = -1.8 per year!

Bishoprics are best made early in a young (healthy) ruler's reign, when the ruler has more than enough conquering to do. I'd make 2, or 3 tops. (only trouble is getting enough cleric educational traits! I gotta start sending more people to monastery school.)

Btw, I just did a test- with a whooping 3800 piety...

In one year, on very hard, I lost just ONE PIETY POINT. 12.9 - 11.9

I assume this means that badboy reduction is capped at one point (on very hard) in order to keep people with high piety from getting off too easy when it comes to badboy?


If that's the case then the maximum piety that's important to have on VH is at least 560-600 at any given time. Anything beyond that just earns points with the Pope.


Now then, just tested it on very easy! I lost almost exactly 5 badboy in one year on very easy!

So- 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 badboy loss limits for each difficulty level!
