So, I started a campaign with Ethiopia today and my autonomy seems to be rising and rising, because of the special mechanics. How do I stop it or at least slow it down?
OK, thanks for the answer! I picked the centralised bureaucracy government reform, which helps further reducing it and I noticed that my biggest problem was actually low crownland, that's why my autonomy was going up, currently it's -10, when not at war. There are several ways to handle it. For one, try not to be at war longer than necessary, that usually cancels it out. Also you can use your cheap capital jumping to move the capital to a high autonomy state. But for the most part being patient until you can get the second tier of government reforms and admin tech 8 will do the trick, as that's when you can select more passive autonomy reduction (on top of the -0.05 for being an empire and -0.05 for Ethiopian traditions), and after that you can war as much as you like.
A good suggestion! I wish I had read it before changing my capital to a 30 development Axum.In the meantime, try to make good use of the moving capital to move to low development, easy-to-develop provinces (probably temperate highlands) in order to pillage enemies and concentrate development
