I'm wondering if having more posts than hours played or if more hours played than posts is more telling?

Only if a post takes an hour+ to write.

I installed Steam in 2013, I got married in 2014 and my first kid was born in 2015 - there isn't a single game in my library that's at more than 600 hours play-time right now. Play time for HOI4 is 458 hours. Really doubt I've played all games put together more than 300-400 hours in the last 12 months. Although that still works out at an hour a day so I've really got to say I'm amazed at people with jobs and families who have managed to play HOI4 more than 1000 hours.

It's called neglect.
No seriously, I'm in a similar situation as you. The only game I have clocked in more than 100 hours is HoI4. The secret is: Get up at 7 a.m. on weekends, take your family on a trip (shopping, restaurant, walk in the park etc.), be home at noon. Make sure you bought something nice for everyone, even if it's just lunch at a Chinese buffet. Your family will appreciate you being a wonderful father and husband. Launch your computer and play HoI4 the rest of the day.

The post count is not only for HOI4. It is for all paradox games and some of us have been here for ten or more years longer than others.

How the hell you play that many hours I single player hoi4? Then I saw civ 6 and realised bad taste lol. Civ v Nq mod multiplayer my friend only way. Civ 6 sucks. Anyway Jesus pal that a lot of hours for single player I would get bored with that in single.

I only have ~ 430h hoi4 time logged in steam but there is something around 600h playing offline not shown by steam i play nearly exclusive in Singleplayer.

I have that many hours because I enjoy it. As for Civ6 I really enjoy that too, though the AI still needs work. The last patch has made that better. I'll never play Civ 5 again. Only being able to build 4 to 5 cities MAX, unless you were going for domination, drove me crazy.

the question really is where is the other 99.5% as I dont play vanilla MP nor do I use mods when I play MP.

Ah secret a person uses an htd gun 5 in infantry to pierce not for armor advantage

But still you will need atleast 1940 aa support to pierce htd and even then

For my part, I gave up before reaching 100 hours... it's by far the game that cost me the most, for the less hours played (the best is EU3, 5CAN$ for 1000+ hrs... HoI3 came just below it, with over 60CAN$ for 1000 hrs+, mostly MP).

I still planned on getting back to HoI4... after the next 2 expansions (quite happy tough to see the pass was extended to 4). It heals the wounds.

Mostly modding, but I have not played for months. Gave up after 1.3.3. I may give it another try, but lack motivation (and time).

I'm sitting at a little over 1100 hours at the moment. I'd say 90% of it is modded to varying degrees, I find vanilla to be overly simplistic and not very rewarding. As far as SP/MP I'd call it a 75/25 split between single and multi.
