3333 hours currently. 99% of it is mp. 10% of those hours are from lobby simulator TM.
For those who have played 2K hours on 100% SP I really wonder how you can do that.. I was bored of it after 100 hours.

One would wonder... I guess people just really like beating up on AI always... But seriously how in the world do you guys enjoy beating the AI all the time? I can understand some modded play throughs like once or twice to see what kind of memes people can make but in the end the AI is still the dumb, clumsy AI that can get outplayed by a 10 year old.

Funny thing for multiplayer 1000 hours is not enough anymore. Sad but true. Used to have a 500 hour minimum for majors now need 1500 up for Germany, UK and soviet unless you vouched for.

It was never enough. Hours are meaningless when it comes to judging player skill.

All that the hours played count does is let you see if a player is new or not.

Well obviously skill is not always linked to hours. But there no other metrics to go by unless you question them. Which is unfair as other strats do work other than your own.

Yes, true. But there are definitely questions which if answered wrong, well, you shouldn't be allowed on a major.

Just hit it today. Most of it would have to be vanilla, but very quickly followed by road to 56 and slu of other mods. SP mostly but surely at least a few hundred hours in mp.

I have a policy against responding to demands for screenshots. So take my word (or don't) when I say I have 1747 hours, That is after having stopped playing SP almost completely most of a year ago.

The multiplayer time should be further clarified into:
-actual gameplay
-lobby simulator

1658h, but it's 99% MP. Too bad there's no official way of recording that. Would be nice to also see how much of it was spent just sitting in the lobby waiting for a game, because that amounts to a lot of hours. The running joke in MP is that HoI4 is a lobby simulator and the gameplay part is just an easter egg.

I think that applies to public MP games only. Since we meet at a set time there is no point to being in game more than a few minutes early.

I think the probability of you making up playtimes, rather than just telling us like it is, is only slightly larger than you having been abducted by aliens, and then the aliens are using your account to troll the PDS forums . Of course, if you ever do get abducted by aliens, I demand screenshots .

906 hours, nearly all on Italy, single player...

I play MP rarely, and when I do, I usually play Greece... small, fun minor with a role to play in the broader scheme of things.

I don't usually run my beloved Italy in MP cause its too "detail intensive" and MP just seems to be a "hurry up and play" kind of atmosphere.

regarding this about "playing the AI all the time"...i used to be into WAR BY TIME TABLE so much that i had entire notebooks written up complete with build schedules, order of battles, chain of commands, and elaborate hand drawn battle plans... that was for hearts of iron 2, and my first wife threw them away, thinking they were trash (!!!) so the AI was a fun tool to bounce off my arm-chair general ideas......

I only have around 500 hours. In fairness, it's mostly because EU4 stole the other 3200 and Stellaris stole the remainign 300. And CK2 piled on another 400 on top of that. So really, the fact that HoI4 has more time than the other titles excepting EU4 says enough for me. It's a great game - just somewhat less repalyable in the long term than I've found EU4 to be with its rather long timeline and all. As everyone in thsi thread are I am sure, I too am excited for the next DLC and another chance to jump back in to the game with fresh stuff

Even though the AI needs work to become a challenge on the tactical level, there's still lots of fun to be had on the strategic level.

This might be an indicator that you like the game.... if it weren't for the people with 1000+ hours logged who moan about the game and call it "broken". Yes, I can't believe it either.

I think you're right about it being mostly people with the time and inclination to play MP who spend this much time on the game BTW - I only play SP and have less than 300 hours logged. The effect of having a job and a family!

1000 hours is possible while having work and family if you do not play any other games, or perhaps a few selection of games.

The only game that I personally have played over 1000 hours is World of Warcraft, and only two other games reach beyond 800 hours on my steam page.

It's very hard getting a proper game without a public lobby. And by proper I mean one where all or most of the historical key combatant nations are played. That's at least 15-18 players.

I can understand thinking that, but I disagree. The minors in HOI4 are so greatly exaggerated in their abilities compared to history that I take the opposite approach. I believe the ideal number of players is 6-8 to avoid abuse of the minors' capabilities. This is why we see completely different views on strategic bombers being overpowered, for instance. In your format there could be double or even triple (if not more) the number of planes involved as there can be in mine.

I installed Steam in 2013, I got married in 2014 and my first kid was born in 2015 - there isn't a single game in my library that's at more than 600 hours play-time right now. Play time for HOI4 is 458 hours. Really doubt I've played all games put together more than 300-400 hours in the last 12 months. Although that still works out at an hour a day so I've really got to say I'm amazed at people with jobs and families who have managed to play HOI4 more than 1000 hours.

Yeah that's true about minors being ridiculously strong in HoI4. MP mods like FHMM, YAMM and even PFU do remedy this to a certain extent though.
