THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK

The New England Great Britain
1419 - 1705

A predominantly pictorial history

Aim - Keep French culture and conquer all French cultured provinces.
- Conquer and convert as many enemies trading posts, colonies and pagans as possible to Anglo Saxon/Protestantism.
- Convert to Protestantism and force convert all Catholics
- All protestant provinces will be gathered up-and added to the Empire.
- Colonize, convert, kill as many natives as possible in that order.
- Make all Sunnis, Shiites, Orthodoxies, Confucians, Buddhists, Hindus pay vassalage and homage to “THE EMPIRE”, we don’t wont that sort in “THE EMPIRE”. (did not complete).

Settings - Very hard, Aggressive, Fog of war on, Dynamic missions off.

Short reports in 10 year lots.

1419 -1429 = The party begins -

screensave8.png

England + Burgandy + Brittany is at war with the potentially powerful enemy of France, her vassals and the rascal to the north, Scotland.

screensave0.png

Never fear Henry the fifth is here. On news of Henrys invasion force nearing Paris, Aragon happily join our alliance and more importantly our fight against all evil doers.

screensave9.png

The proud English tradition of killing Frenchies is upheld after Henrys inspirational speech-
"We few, we happy few, we band of brothers.
For he today that sheds his blood with me
Shall be my brother; be he ne'er so vile,
This day shall gentle his condition.
And gentlemen in England now abed
Shall think themselves accursed they were not here,
And hold their manhoods cheap whiles any speaks
That fought with us upon Saint Crispin's day".

Our enemies soon grew, as we declared war on Castile + Portugal with our new friends Aragon + Lorraine + Navarra the yella Burgandians turned tail and fled our alliance, we chased after them immediately declaring war and their fate was worse than that of Castile which we gained the canary islands and Sevilla as vassal.

screensave5.png

As the first 10 years winds up France is decimated, Burgandy stripped of her riches........

and Norway all but conquered. Bedford awaits reinforcements after two unsuccessful assaults on Bergenshus.

screensave3.png

Their on there way as Talbot is promoted and a small Norwegian garrison in Meath are surrounded

1429 - 1439 = Huzza, huzza, huzza, forward, aim.....fire! -

screensave00.png

Boom, boom, boom, ratta, tat, tat..ratta, tat, tat
Good ole England, Good ole England, Good ole England, Good ole England, Good ole England, Good ole England, Good ole England, Good ole England.....Celebrations exploded all across the countryside as news of Talbot's victory and Norways capitulation reached the people.

screensave11.png

But the Danish King farted in his general direction, the insolence....must not and will not be tolerated! These Scandinavians WILL respect my steel and lead if nothing else!

screensave20.png

With a large portion of our forces tied up in Sweden, Auvergne makes a break for power, fortunately Bedford was in Guyyenne taking his yearly holidays with his family.

screensave50.png

After Swedens downfall, English forces lead by the great Talbot and his second in command Salisbury head to Danish strongholds.

screensave60.png

There were looks of horror and dread on the Sjelland citizens faces as they watched the pride of their fleet blown to smitherines.

screensave80.png

Brittany after all weve done for them over the years. You are not my brother, you have joined yourselves with the evil doers and we will treat you much worse than we treat them cause you stabbed me in the heart.

screensave90.png

The situation......

screensave12.png

Paris's tormented screams roar as the city burns and lights up the cool night sky while my loyal men at arms warm themselves and consider the riches of plunder.

screensave13.png

Richemont, Frances beloved leader and 29000 troops (mostly peasant rabble) marches for Paris.

screensave14.png

All to no avail as the peasant farmers literally fertilize the earth and birds come from miles around to feast on the carcasses of men no more and Frances hopes perish with them.

screensave15.png

France begs for peace as Western Europe is filled with carnage.

screensave16.png

You travelled the watery grave to die like this? hahahaha......

screensave18.png

However Brittany and her allies have the upper hand...on paper anyway.

screensave19.png

The second chapter concludes with Kleves, Bremen and the Palatinat massing large armies on my northern border, while a handfull of my provinces are under Brittany - Burgandy control. The King has just received news from the incompetent foreign minister that a great blunder had occured and that we are war with Muscovy instead of Novogrod - the owner of the last foreign colony in the area. Needless to say he will be hung, drawn and quartered for treason.

A war against Norway that early is not easy with England (yes, I know firsthand, fellow EU2-compatriot :) ), so well done. Apart of Iceland, what did you take ? Groenland, the northern colonies ? What did you take from Sweden, and what do you plan to grab from Denmark ?

Otherwise, go go go, only one war to go against France ! :D

PS : who's owning Orleannais ? It seems currently France-controlled, but who's the rightful owner (well, rightful until you desire to get it back, I suppose :D ) ?

Thanks people,

- BB is a little high, but im trying my best to keep it under the threshold at all costs while trying to acheive my objectives.

- From Norway = Narvik, Finnmark, Vestbygden, Eriksfjord and Iceland.

- From Sweden = Kola (which they took off Novogrod). When making the peace I forgot all about Lappland until it was too late :( , now its a city.

- From Denmark (the war is already over, forgot too mention or photograph it) = Karelia (also from Novogrod)

- I was hoping on Arkhangelsk also but its too late now.

- Orleanais is owned by Aragon, but not for long i think ;) for my new foreign minister assures me Aragon is soon too betray my alliance, it all depends where BB is at that moment and whether I decide too punish him or wait for him too attack. I have other higher priorties now involving far off lands which my foreign minister assures me can be a home away from home for my Anglo Saxon peoples :D .

Are you going to pick up Henry VII or Richard III?

No idea, I havent really looked into the events much, dont know what the differences are (mainly find out when other people bring them up) and havent played England in ages (except one very short go, just recently were I racked up massive BB). But Lawkeeper explained some things about BB and alliances I never knew, so I started again and this is it. Concerning events I usually just go with what seems like the most beneficial option at the time.

1439 - 1449 = The killing continues....and expansion into the middle east....

screensave01.png

The northern German armies stream into my territory....at their peril

screensave17.png

Warwick appointed protector of the realm.

screensave21.png

The beseiged and the beseiging of fortifications.

screensave30.png

On the offensive.

screensave4.png

............"I'll be back"..........

screensave61.png

The tide turns and Brittany and co run out of steam and sign an uneasy peace. They would not agree for peace for just Maine  .

screensave7.png

Time to reflect on what is and what could have been in north eastern Europe.

screensave81.png

Several years of peace past and it is decided. An expeditionary force shall be sent to the middle east to see what can be done. The Mameluks are paid a small fortune for access of their land.

screensave91.png

...and Castile is warned too behave itself.....

screensave100.png

Talbot spends a few days rest and relaxation enroute..."Im working...on my tan"

screensave111.png

Spies had infiltrated the realm of the Timurid Empire and found suitible land for our expansion and perhaps powerbase for controlling the local area. Preparations for war begin.

screensave12 copy.png

.....what are we doing in this dry hell....

screensave130.png

Reinforcements on way.

screensave140.png

Morale is shattered after a short battle against a superior army 1/7th our size and panic sets in the ranks.

screensave150.png

Though quick thinking Talbot pays off the local riff raff for a safe escape route if required.

screensave160.png

Warwick holds his ground as Talbot explores deeper inland to find a weak link.

screensave180.png

But again the enemy proves too strong and were forced too retreat.

screensave190.png

Success at last, these infidels arent 10 foot tall and bullet proof. Warwick can lift his head with pride once more.

screensave200.png

In the end, they had no heart and capitulated easily, they will be sorry forever and a day for this....

screensave23.png

Gah... reputation...what do they know, I sleep well at night.

screensave24.png

Lut, Kerman and Merched will become good citizens and Elbruz released to the dogs once it serves its purpose.

screensave25.png

Some people felt discomfort at the mere mention of my name. But England rejoices in the knowledge that the world is a safer and better place because we have made our mark on it. The English shall NEVER be slaves.

Nice warmongering. :)

Be careful with BB, you almost reach threshold. You get a crappy monarch and suddenly BB threshold will be lower... And you know what it means. :D

This AAR is a killer for dialup... I feel sorry for those who have dialup...

Yes i am painfully aware what it means, so I am watching very carefully for any events which may affect Monarchs rating and BB and if the need arises release some vassals to improve BB.

Thanks for replys everyone!

1449 - 1459 = We dont take "NO" for an answer... ...hail and fire shall rain down upon mine enemies and their children shall die by the sword until the answer is "YES"!

screensave02.png

Some people are never satisfied. Inflation hits record highs and the price of bread increases due to the goverments minting of hard currency.

screensave112.png

But the population in The Timurids are furious with their king after the humiliating loss to us.

screensave22.png

Large sums of gold are used to bribe the kings in the middle east for safe passage of troops and the swapping of maps.

screensave31.png

Though relations appeared good, the good Kings name was slurred in idle drunken talk. Warwick as the Kings man in charge took matters into his own hands.

screensave40.png

Men at work

screensave62.png

They will think twice before opening their months in my presence.

screensave70.png

My reputation with my people is what really counts. Damm the rest of the world.

screensave82.png

Traders eager to go anywhere flock to the horn of Africa.

screensave92.png

Warwick proclaimed by the locals as the Lion from the West on vacation in Bagdad.

screensave101.png

Diplomats in Lisbon confirms that Portugal are withholding maps of potential fortune.

screensave113.png

War of the roses, as confidence in our Monarch decrease.

screensave131.png

Cornwell and Meath are released as vassals as a show of goodwill towards foreign powers. I am good, warm and most friendly King ;) .

screensave141.png

Hmmmm, Pagan peoples who require true enlightenment.

screensave161.png

Sevilla pays homage to me sir, not you.

screensave171.png

Diamentina where art thou? I must know ALL.

screensave181.png

Wales are made free for a time in order to calm the Kings of Europe....

screensave201.png

and not too alarm them, when rivers run red with our enemies blood.

screensave220.png

Lisbon was turned upside down and inside out until we found these maps.

screensave250.png

Montague prepares to sail for what the Portugese call the south Americas, while more great news is received.

screensave26.png

Taste my steel Spainiard.

screensave27.png

The unfriendly natives want what the Spainiards are having and realise afterwards it wasnt to their liking.....

screensave28.png

We close another decade with, WHAT! Is that WHAT, blood on my hands, cant be, Im immaculately clean and good natured.
