I have been thinking about this for a while now, and I haven't been able to find a good answer anywhere.

So the question is:

If I am for example playing as Germany and as soon as I have the army XP I replace all the battalions in my standard infantry division with motorized battalions, they will of course still need infantry equipment, support equipment etc, everything they needed as normal infantry. But they will now also need trucks of course.

So if I were to change all my infantry divisions over to motorized, and I didn't have the trucks to supply all of them with trucks, how would this effect their performance?. Would they just move slower until they get enough trucks? or would they suffer a massive combat penalty for not having all their equipment?

Cause if they suffered a general combat penalty then you would start stockpiling trucks, and hold back on making new divisions until you've got enough trucks to switch over and instantly supply everyone with them.

Its still a while till release, but I cant help myself but plan on how to play.

As far as I remember, lack of equipment negatively impact the org. of divisions, so the combat effectiveness.
But you can choose the divisions that will get the new equipments, so you'll could do it step by step and minimise any malus.

Thanks, do you maybe have a source for this?

I hope it isn't the case as you described because it would mean having to check your stockpiles every so often to see how many divisions you can switch over manually. Could get annoying if you have large army.

I think I heard Daniel mention it in a WWW, maybe when he launched barbarossa in the MP WWW.

The more micro ther is the more I enjoy the game ;)
But, if I understood it correctly, there is ways to upgrade divisions by batch and not only one by one or all.
You could create a variant of a division (XP free), assign it the newest equipment then chose "N divisions" and convert them to the new variant. You also have possibility to set a priority between divisions for equipments

I think it also affects the varied stats of the division. Basically having 100% of trucks gives you the 100% of it, but if you have 50% of it then you will have less org and less combat stats such as hard attack and soft attack. Don't quote me on it but i believe this is how it is.

So Daniel lowered the performance of almost all his divisions when he added art in the Hungary game? (since he was seriously lacking art guns) Would be cool if certain equipment influenced certain stats, like lacking trucks remove mobility, lacking inf weapons.. well most things, but mainly soft attack and defence?

I think that if u miss something, then stats of that divison will be diffrent from those who have everything, like missing arty will not increase soft attack and also you will get lower organization cuz u will have arty-soldiers without arty, but i dont think that if u have 0 cars then u will have 100% penalty, but more I think u will have similar stats like normal inf but with lower org

PS: only devs can say how it is, but it can change till D-day

One thing that I dont think have been mentioned yet but a division on the training line can only complete its training if it have all its equipment, naturally you can put out the division before it complete its training but it will peform significantly worse.
