The Eastern Mediterranean Campaign 1419 – ca 1550
The idea is to create a smaller campaign with a narrower geographic scope during a shorter time span. The campaign will start later this summer and be played by experienced, dedicated players. Sessions will be 4-6 hours at least once a week. This thread is set up to gain feedback, good ideas and see what players are interested.
Considering the pick playable states and the limited geographical area it will be a competitive game. Wars of conquest are allowed and it is allowed to annex player nations. Role-playing is encouraged but not mandatory. Being a backstabbing weasel is probably no disadvantage either and definitely allowed. So far I see no point in making any house rules to change the game engines own rules. Thus it is allowed to refuse peace while being stab hit and technically having no chance to win the war etc. It is allowed to make unhistorical alliances with religious opponents if wished for etc. Hopefully this thread will fill up with interesting views and opinions and all this might change before the campaign is started.
When considering who’s the winner of the campaign the state with the most success compared to its historical counterpart will be used as well as VP and comparison of military and economical achievements. Progress outside the Eastern Med will be considered in to a lesser extent.
Difficulty level: normal/weakling
Playable countries
1.Ottoman Empire
2. Mameluks
3. Venice
4. Papal states
5. Genoa
6. Naples
7. The Knights
8. Byzan
9. Karaman
10. Georgia
Special rules:
Colonization will not be allowed with a few exceptions. The OE is allowed to colonize in the Indian Ocean area. Catholic states are allowed to colonize African provinces.
Territorial conquest:
Provinces may only be gained south of France, Switzerland, Austria and Hungary in Europe. Africa is open. Americas are off limit. Persia and India are open. This is of course to narrow down the geographical theatre of the campaign and focus it on the Eastern Med.
Any other good ideas for this campaign? Any interested players?
