A grey depressing morning hung over the ancient forbidden city. Yuan Shikai had noted it when dawn arrived, for he had not slept all night and had been awake to welcome the gloomy weather with a cynical gaze. He had spent the previous thirteen hours in his office alone, calculating the future of his beloved China.
The old Qing dynasty General, for the sake of his nation, dissolved parliament. The General had realized, since the first Kuomintang revolution, that the Chinese people were uneducated to the ways of democracy, the way of the west, the ways of democracy.
Shikai had forseen from the start that democracy was merely a facade, a way to make the people feel they had power, while giving them none. He had no intentions to deceive the people with such a false ideaology, but rather to be blunt and do what was necessary to protect that which was Chinese, and that was China itself.
For hundreds of years, his lands had been constantly under the control of the various Emperors and dynasties that reigned with iron fists and military might. In those glorious times, China had been great, without any foe to challenge her.
It was his desire to make China great again, no matter the cost, no matter the sacrifice.
( Hey guys, I have been playing HOI2 since 2007 and have long been alone in my interest in such an engrossing game. I'v tried to get my friends into it, but unfortunately I have been unsuccessful. I found the this forum and read a couple of AAR's and I was extremely impressed with the quality of the work presented, so I thought I would give it a go. So hopefully I don't screw it up! At the moment I'm playing the 1914 mod as the Republic Of China, so I thought this would be a good chance to have a go at my first AAR. So please do not be harsh on me haha. Cheers! )
