DrBob said:Yes, I've seen about the same thing happening, subs getting beat up. How many transports are you sinking? I've seen a decrease in that. I've had to change my tactics and do alot more night attacks.
I have changed tech research for UK and i think Cananda so they will research ASW and then start building them. You should see an increase in ASW destroyers. After getting that tech they can then research ASW Ops. and they will be better at killings subs so watch out. Subs are not the killers they once use to be. I would like to see 37 sub att increased to a 5. Their attack use to be a 7.
let us know how things go at regular settings.![]()
Nice to know its not just me then!
Am starting a new normal difficulty game - think I might try building up my forces a bit more and wait till fall of France (bases and no French navy) before deploying.
I've traditionally tried to just use Sea Wolf leaders - but am wondering whether with the changes and greater frequency of combats vs surface fleets this is no longer a good idea??
UPDATE.
What a difference a difficulty level makes!! After 8 months on normal using a 12 stack SS4 and a 30 stack SS3 (all night attacks) have sunk 464 convoys for loss of just 4 subs - and - sunk 46 allied surface units:
5 x BB/BC
5 x CA
11 x CL
25 x DD
My two fleets weren't at sea the whole time - and one spent quite a lot of time retreating up and down the Irish Sea after 'losing'
Most surface fleets seemed to be ASW (2-4 stacks) - and latterly some were Canadian as I have sunk 4 of their DD. Dont think I was operating off the eastern seaboard very much though.
