I just saw this thread.

I've put a lot of time into a compendium game as USA trying to learn the game. I thought it was pretty cool that I couldn't build carriers and battleships at the beginning of the game. Unfortunately, it is 1942, the Japanese have attacked me and I am still not allowed to build carriers or battleships. The Treaty ended way back when, I can't even remember. Will the USA unilaterally obey this treaty forever?

When was the event allowing me to build suppose to trigger?

Thanks.

Again, did you abandon the doctrine? Remember you can't if you are researching another naval doctrine.

I didn't understand that there was a tech I was suppose to abandon. I see it now. From the wording of the treaty event at the beginning of the game I was under the impression it was an event that would fire and give me the option. Perhaps a rewording of the event would help new players understand what they need to do. Thanks for your help.

Also, the wording of the event says that there will be repercussions if done before WW II. From the USA perspective that is when they enter the war. But the events that triggered after I abandoned the tech imply that it can be done as long as Germany is at war, which would be September 1939. Is that correct?

Hey Luxor, I played a test of Germany, and I really like how those Lend Lease events give the UK and the SU a lot of IC, which is historic in the sense that the US ended up producing a lot of goods for those countries, but it is not historic that the US can give out the capacity of 150 Base IC to those two countries and still retain their full IC.

Those events only make sense if the US looses the same amount of IC, as historically US factories were producing for those 2 countries, they didn't build all new ones during the war additionally to those already existing.
As such, the total output has got to be the same, therefore you should reduce the US base IC for the same amount, that of course makes especially human players think about whether they do that or not, as they have the choice between letting the SU and the UK fight it out and the US remains just the world factory, or if they get in the mud themselfes, and therefore prefer to keep the IC.

In the compendium mod, is it correct that naval techs such as Current DD Design, BC tactical doctrine and Schnorkel Use have the research year listed as 1951 and 1949? I notice other countries have these techs a lot sooner. Thanks.

The second event (not the beginning one) clearly states that you can abandon the London Conference doctrine. I can't help if you don't read events text, hehehe.

But USA are loosing those ICs, or not? I thought I added that command to US events, but I can't check now.

I checked and in fact these are the commands for US events (help to UK and USSR):

command = { type = free_ic value = -100 }

command = { type = free_ic value = -50 }

So, USA are giving away what UK/USSR are getting.

I see now what you mean. I did it for Italy and Japan but not for other players. I'll add more precise wording for them too. Sorry for the misunderstanding.

About USA, the Treaty was dead once Germany went at war with UK and France. USA will be no more bound to it even if they aren't at war, so you are free to abandon it.

I'm having a bit of a problem with this mod.

When I try to start a game, I get hundreds of event id conflict error messages.

This did not happen the first time I loaded a game, but then I made some simple changes that shouldn't have affected this. All I did was:

a) give Saudi Arabia some offmap IC and resources since I wanted to play as them
b) add some tech teams for Saudi Arabia (copied from Persia, renamed, and given free IDs)
c) added the new SKIF icons (yours are woefully out of date) ;)

I'm trying a reinstall (preserving my changes), but if it doesn't work I'll say so, and I hope someone can help me.

Edit: No, reinstall didn't work. Help please?

I checked that too, but with my current dificulty setting, the US still retains their 1100 IC, there is no change before or after, which is why I said anything at all.

Edit:
And something I wonder too about is whether that reduction command reduces base IC or modified IC, because if the US would loose base IC, the impact would be much larger, as the UK and the Soviet Union get both the amount as base IC.

The loss is modified ICs because they are off-map ICs being added/removed. Can you load your game as USA and check if those 150 ICs are being removed or not?

Even a complete reinstall (reinstalling Armageddon 1.1 then applying your mod) didn't work. The error messages look like this one:

Code:
Error: Database mismatch ( type = 7 id 20000 )
Abort | Retry  | Ignore

Every time I click ignore I get another, and there are literally tens of thousands. Please help?

Only a corrupted installation can explain it. Try to have a clean ARM 1.1 installation. Run the game to check it. Then apply the mod and run the .bat file you find in it. Other than that I have no clue.
