(note: this is with 5.1)
It's 1411. The Russian minors have succumbed to the Horde - only Novogrod remains - and they are paying tribute past their truce. Georgia and the Italian colonies have fallen to the Horde, and Candar has been vassalized as a buffer state with the Ottomans.
All is not well however: Poland and Lithuania are in a powerful Personal Union, and Poland has just annexed Moldavia. Our truce with them expires in 1413. In the south, the Ottomans and Mamluks are 1 colonist away from grabbing a province from the Timurids and bordering the Horde (leading to instant war).
The Horde is currently at peace, which would allow for creating vassals to block off the South (a 5 province Georgia) or the West (release Ryazan and sell her the border provinces with Poland/Lithuania).
I have some ideas of where to go, but I thought that letting this out for ideas (and questions) would be kinda fun.
In a couple of days, I'll play it forward.
Some notes about Hordes in DW:
* With 5.1, if you occupy an enemy province long enough, it joins your empire infamy free. On the downside, you now have a 10% tech rate, and you're at war with all non-Horde neighbors unless you force them into vassalization or truce. With westernization requiring you to be 25 tech levels behind (not that I'll have a problem staying that far behind), this will get interesting.
* Because Hordes all border other hordes (who will slowly lose provinces to colonization), it's hard to manage your borders. My border with the Timurids is a great example.
* GH starts with a border with Lithuania and thus ends up at war with Poland and Lithuania on day 1. I've already had 2 inconclusive wars with P-L, but at least now I've cleared out the Russian minors.
* Tribal Succession Crises are just as annoying as they were for Prawnstar, but part of that is because I don't yet have enough armies that I can afford to let one patrol solely for rebels.
