Bad dice rolls are maddeningly frustrating, but at the end of the day I agree with the posters here. If the random effect were reduced, it would end up hampering gameplay pretty significantly. You'd pretty much always be able to calculate when you would win or lose confrontations.

I bet the Spanish Armada is still smarting over their dice rolls!
