Honestly? I hate being a Negative Nancy here, but I feel like this was a disappointing first session. There were no new names that really stood out to make a name for themselves. Just the same people who succeeded from previous campaigns beating up on the same names who lost in previous sessions. I want to see somebody who doesn't have a cult following to step up. Come on, Mong Yang, get some alliances, I fear for you survival down the line! Bahmanis, Vijay, please unite to take down Jaunpur and/or Gujarat! You two need to match their no-nonsense policy of ferocity towards players if you want to maintain your spot in India.

I think the only region of the world I have the most vested interest in watching is Japan. The rest of Asia is straight-up, clear-cut vicious. No Japanese powers have expressed any interest in bloody conflicts with one another yet. I look forward to see how those rivalries develop down the line.

Pretty much this. That's what upset me about Lan Xang being shot down by an alliance. He wins 1:1 against backstabbing Ihki and what's happening? He receives help, just so that he might attack his little helper later. It was like seeing Groogy help PLC against Muscovy once more. And we know how that 'friendship' turned out later.

The backstage plotting between the games would be interesting to know more about as it happens, but obviously we can only learn about it after the fact (aside from any propaganda/misdirection)...

Considering how hard it was for me to try and secure alliances, I had a feeling for what was coming. Nevertheless, I was not going to go down without a fight. And what a fight it was. The war ended up being far closer than I thought it would. With a lot of back and forth with battles both won and lost. But alas, I was not meant to survive the Indian Thunderdome.

I haven't had so much fun fighting a war in quite a while.

India is a bloodbath and it is gonna get worse. Wiz is quite ''free'' to grow to be the strongest player. If and when the Ming implodes, he can eat a lot of Ming if others allow it.

Japan and it's trio of players will be quite interesting to follow. Maybe we will see 3 of them co-exist somehow ? probably not

Well his expansion against the ai is more limited then the last two times he played, though knowing him he is propably trying to gank up on ming with korea and maybe oirat too. i dont know why they even allow him to start so far away from the "playerkiller". sending in the new players so close to ddrjake and starnan is quite harsh though i expect starnan to dominate india soon.

however i have to point out that iam a little bit disappointed in the casting. though i do admit that the action this session was propably a little bit difficult to follow iam missing the explanation why and what is going on and what changed in the game seeing all those new "features" or hearing the "hints" and just getting a somewhat snarky remark about a dev diary or that it is work in progress is just not very satisfiing and yes jake always found the time to explain new things to us, even if they were work in progress and changed back.. like the fort-area-mechanic in the last campaign.

on the other hand i cant really let the argument count that there was so many things at so many places going on at the same time when johan himself wasnt using the spare time he got from the game speed but instead pushed for a faster speed.

like expected, i miss jakes cynical casting already .

That was mostly my fault. I messed up an engagement and lost most of my army, simultaneously while Jake lost most of his to that huge rebel stack.

That was a bad battle for you guys... Me and Katz/Vijayanagar stackwiped 29k men; it went so fast we didn't even see whose troops exactly we killed (had to ask Jake after the session if his troops were among them). It was a complete surprise to ourselves!

I'm glad our plans in India went as well as they did, but I was actually genuinely surprised that I ended up as a Great Power with the most score of all player-nations... I'll see how long I can hold on to it I'm not experienced one bit with EU4 competitive multiplayers (other than two sessions as Brabant last campaign), but I intend to do my best further down this game!
