Just caught up on youtube. Nice first session guys! Although it was a pity so much of it was speed 2 early on.

I caught up too via youtube. Thanks to the guys uploading this there! YT is much more practical to watch the video in smaller chunks and scrolling around!
@Johan and Chris: I really like your commenting styles. I have the feeling you treat all areas fairly, you do not miss much and you do not focus on the same thing all the time (last game was Jake showing Portuguese trade finances once an hour
).
My only request is to show the diplomatic map more more often to see the extent of the wars. It is much easier to see all wars by clicking through the various countries

While Khmer is technically not dead yet, in that position a voluntary relocation seems more likely, with Malacca, Ayutthaya and Dai Viet plus Pasai being as entrenched as they are right next to him.
I wonder, could DDRJake use Chinese tributary in order to secure his existance?

I'm obviously rooting for Jake, but the Southern Alliance should probably immediately war on him and eliminate him. He's too dangerous to leave alive.
Interesting beginning to this series. The close quarters and move away from the advantaged European powers really shakes things up and gives it momentum.
It will be interesting to see who knows how to best leverage institution progress to force a temporary tech advantage.
I do feel that Starnan and Wiz are in superior positions due to their locations, with either less competition (Wiz) or easy access to plenty of AI's to devour (Starnan). The Timurids shattering early also helps him immensely, with an easy path to Arabia and the ability to cap the flow of trade.
The colonial powers are somewhat protected on their islands, but colonization will be brutally slow (and quite expensive) for quite a while. Go off and build secret empires that others can't see. Sell off provinces and move capitals to 'colonial' regions for a major advantage.
Predictions for this week:
The fall of Athutthaya (mostly to Dai Viet)
The betrayal of Bahmanis (possibly Viyayanagar, but being in middle AND adjacent to Jake and Starnan is a bad place to be)
... if this doesn't happen, the happy trio has to fall on Jake and gut Juanpur while he's still low on manpower and high on loans. Bengal should turn coat, since they got very little except ruin for sticking in his shadow.
Starnan runs along the coast and makes it to Hormuz.
Wiz talks everyone into ripping Ming apart. and takes the lion's share for himself. (And also finishes off the Oirat)

It's great that this can happen in modern EU4. Starting as I did with EU3, it would've been a pretty funny series. 300 years of infighting and struggle, but no one asserts themselves as a dominant power so Castille rocks up and blows their 100k armies away with roughly 25k
My prediction is that the hugbox of India will stay united while there are still rivals close them on the map. I expect them to kill of Jake and Meneth. Depending on Imse's diplomacy, she might be next. Only after that, I think it's becoming more likely they will start stabbing each other in the back.
I also expect the Japanese players to attack Wiz/LetterZ this session, or it might be too late. If Korea spawns the renaissance and just focusses on tech, Japan becomes vulnerable to an invasion from Wiz/LetterZ instead. Considering what land Wiz took, it's only natural that they will be looking for an opportunity to give Zeke land in Japan and further eastwards.
