In my game as the CSA I have a lot of socialist voters but no socialist party. Is this because I have a two-party system or because I have so many clergymen?

Also, how can I encourage a socialist party to form?

i ahve more than enough officers.

the reason i have so many clergymen is because i am roleplaying the south but if they are standing between me and a socialist party i will have their heads!

Its like in reality....You have a two party system with approximately the same views...heh...These two parties are naturally broad and includes much more divergent views than contemporary European Parties. They have to choose, your precious pops... Nice choices by the way.

Parties arrive at historical dates.

Well, very easily actually. Especially in the Old South, officers were drawn from the slave owning aristocracy, who were, at least allegedly, deeply religious. Also, we're not talking about Priests here. Latin Christianity was extremely rare in the CSA. The clerics in question would be baptist ministers for the most part, and they have no problem becoming military officers.

The parties pop into existance at set dates, so the US will never see a socialist party until 1901.

Uhm, you can "encourage" it by modifying /db/parties/usa_party.csv.

EDIT: This has been discussed a bit in the "No social reforms as US"-thread :)

Once, while messing around on my secondary install of the beta (that I use for messing around with stuff, for AAR's and boredom) I made two new parties for CSA, a Socialist and communist part.

CSA;14204;Socialists Party;1870;2000;socialist;state_capitalism;protectionism;secularized;full_citizenship;anti_military;all;all;x

CSA;14205;Red Dixie Party;1900;2000;communist;planned_economy;protectionism;atheism;residence;jingoism;all;all;third_party

CSA;14206;Negroes Party;2000;2000;socialist;state_capitalism;protectionism;pluralism;full_citizenship;anti_military;african_minor;all;third_party

The last party is mainly there do to complete and total boredom. How lovely it would be, to have that party win an election in the CSA...*teehee*...irony.
