I wonder how the danish overseas posesions will simulated. They had the nicobar Islands at the time and some TP and Tranqebar in India. Then they had TPs in todays Ghana and the todays US virgin Islands.
I think that Denmark must have at least the virgin islands, nicobar islands and tranqebar. of coarse Greenland and iceland too.

If the Virgin islands exist sure.
But i doubt that they were of any value.

It would also be nice to see more islands in the north sea. Thinking of the Faeroes, Shetland, Orkneys etc.

Actually, compared to the size of DK they where at least in the fisrt part of this period.

The sugar plantations where quiet valuable IIRC

Norwegian "arctic imperialism" (i.e. grabbing all the desolate places no one else wanted) didn't really kick off before after the Great War (Svalbard, 1919). We even tried to annex part of Greenland from Denmark (through a private venture that was later made official) but were kicked out by the international court in Haague :D . Perhaps a player could grab'em earlier though, but I doubt they have a lot to offer...

Wasn't Trancebar sold to the British during the early 19th. century? I guess Sweden settled down after the union with Norway. It is argued that because the Swedes had poorly informed diplomats, they forgot to include Iceland and Greenland with Norway in the Kiel treaty secession with Denmark in 1812.

Sweden had a colony then, St. Barthelemey (Caribbean island) IIRC, a gift from the French king, it got good use as a stopover during some wars over there and cashed in good during that period. It was sold to France.

I think Sweden had a claim on or owned one german city still, but I think that is too small to register.

I know! We would probably gotten at least a part of Greenland had we taken "softer measures". Having some drunk fishermen "occupy" part of Greenland was kinda foolish.

Anyway, I only want the islands to be in the game. Even to this day, only Svalbard is inhabited! I just want to claim them for the glory of the Norwegian uh..Empire! :D

They had a part of pommerania, but it was sold to brandenburg just before the game beginns, but I have to check up on that.

Greenland and Iceland are definetely in, but the rest are too small and insignificant - I'll be very surprised if Virgin islands are a province in the game. If they include them, they should also have hundreds of Pacific and Caribbean Islands that were omitted from EU2 - not that this is a bad thing (the more provinces - the better:) ), but I don't think this is very realistic to expect that from game developers.

In EU several carribean islands are provinces and IIRC even st. thomas, the largest of the three danish islands.

with the smaller provinces in Victoria, nothing would be stopping them from being in the game, its just a question on how to model the impact they had on economy, the liberalisation of the slaves (and revolts) and finally the pressure the US made to make us sell them (you sell and get dollar, or we take and you get nothing :) ) they desperately needed a naval base in the area.

Oh and DK had a small colony in africa, hence the infamous triangle trade, cheap goods to africa, slaves to the the islands, sugar to dk, rinse and repeat. :)

St. Barthelemy was sold to Sweden by France in the 1780:s. It was sold back to the Frenchies in the 1870:s IIRC.

The city you are refering to is Wismar. It was won by Sweden in the peace of West Phalia in 1648 (along with Bremer-Verden, Vorpommern and parts of Hinterpommern). It was pledged to Mecklenburg-Schwerin on a hundred years as security for a loan in 1803. In 1903 Sweden decided to drop its claim to the city and not use the right of recall.

Well...intially the Swedish rulers thought that colonisation would lead to no good. They thought it was going to be a short lived trend. Then when they realized its potential it was too late...the world had been claimed by someone else.

This brings to mind what one female Swedish minister said in the early 90s when a new world was introduced: "The Internet will be a very short lived trend..." :D I am glad no one here listened to her.
