Sending a peacekeeping force isn't the same thing as a full-fledged ally in game terms. If Italy had landed troops like Britain or Australia then sure, but they'll be neutral at the start.

I don't know if this reply is a bit late (just came across this forum), if it doesn't help anymore just ignore me .

I have some suggestions for the names of the Dutch navy.

Carriers:
At this moment the Dutch navy has no carriers, they had one in the past (just after WWII) and it was named Karel Doorman. I think if they would build a new one (which is very unlikely of course) it would also be named after some famous naval hero.

Cruisers:
The Dutch navy has also no cruisers at the moment, but around WWII they had some cruisers. These were named after naval heros, but also after the colonies we had back then (Java/Sumatra). So I guess now they would be named after naval heros.

Destroyers:
At this moment the Dutch navy mainly has fregates (destroyers) and surprisingly they are mainly named after naval heros again . But in the past there has also been a class that was named after the Dutch provinces.

Submarines:
Submarines have mainly be named after fish. Like the names of the four submarines given in the earlier post.

Other ships:
Then there are some other ships, like minesweapers (named after Dutch towns at the moment). There are also some transport/supply ships but these don't really have a fix naming pattern.

I don't know the ins and outs of the files yet to change such names. But I could image that it gives trouble that a lot of ships are named after naval heros. Is there one list of names for each type of ship or is it possible to have one list of names and let both the carriers, cruisers, etc take a name from this list?

If it would help I could supply a longer list of Dutch naval heros, Dutch provinces etc, just let me know.

I will also try to follow this thread more closely to see if I can help with other information specific to the Netherlands.

Germany's navy today has no destroyers in service. The two destroyers of the 1st destroyers Flotilla have been given to a naval museum and are no longer in active service. These are the destroyers Lütjens and Mölders .
The biggest ships in the german navy are now the Sachsen Class 124 AA frigates.
Maybe there could be an event for germany to put the two destroyers back in service if general war breaks out.

If you want, i could post an overview over germanys navy, with all ships and flotillas + future projects (ships in building queue at start).

Maybe you should read the Modern Day OOB thread, last page. German navy and airforce are finished. What we really need is the army composition.

As for the frigates:
Since frigates have the same duties as destroyers, and since destroyers are the smallest ships in HOI while frigates being even smaller in RL, I think it´s best to make all frigates to destroyers or the other way round.
