Wow, I didn't expect that one to be popular. As you can probably see from the title of the AAR, it's now officially been changed to The Crowned Dragons. Thanks for the input guys.
Is Rheagar Dany's heir? If so, that could get interesting if she dies without legitimizing her bastard. I would not urge attempting to speed that process along. Mereen isn't worth it.
In the event you do inherit, I'd advise trying to tame her dragons, and if successful granting Mereen to her bastard. Do try to get him into a matrelinial match with a Westros Targaryean whatever happens. Does the King have any daughters or nieces unbetrothed?

Rhaegar is indeed Dany's heir. I have absolutely no interest in Meereen and the rest of Essos right now, so I had no intention of keeping it, should Dany die without a proper heir. I was thinking of granting it to one of the Wise Masters, like the zo Loraq family, but her bastard could work too. Regardless, I'm getting rid of it and making it independent from the realm.
Okay everyone, I'm just writing this quick update to say that this AAR will be temporarly put on hold, unfortunately.
My laptop is on its last legs, and just an hour ago my charger pin broke off into my charger, rendering the entire laptop useless. As such, I have no access to something I can play CK2 with, nor can I access my screenshots or notes to keep writing the story up to where I've played.
So, from what I've been reading, this hiatus might last a few days, or it could potentially be weeks, that depends on whether or not the laptop has to be shipped somewhere to be fixed. Sorry to those who have been enjoying it, not much I can do.
As a sign of my faith in this aar, I will continue offering unsolicited advice.
If/when you inherit from Dany, in addition to granting her bastard (side question, what name should a Slavers Bay bastard have? My suggestion would be Blood) Mereen, consider pressing any claims to the other slavers bay cities he might inherit. A stronger eastern cadet branch will last longer and thus keep supplying suitable High Valyrian marriage candidates. That and dragons are all that you can get out of them.
Again, thank you all for the patience, I said I'd have the next part in one or two days, but its approaching on three. I've had some other things I need to deal with, but I'm hoping tomorrow, with the start of my week-long university break, that I'll be able to get these out on a consistent basis again. Sorry.
Although I said a few times that this would be back on track, I did say that a few 'things had been happening that was the reason for this AAR slowing down a bit a few weeks ago. Without going into detail, those 'things' turned out to be a bit bigger and more serious than I had hoped. That's behind me now, and though I can't promise that these will be coming out daily like they used to, I certainly hope that I can get one out at least every few days. Thanks for the three weeks of patience and the kind words, I appreciate it.
CHAPTER XIII - PREPARING PRONGS
I was standing over my father's still warm body when the preparations for a coronation were already being made by those around me. My father was laying on his bed, his arms on his chest, grasping at the hilt of Blackfyre. He looked at peace, far from the image the guards who found him encountered. They said it looked as if his legs had simply given way beneath him, the weight of himself crumpling him into a heap of flesh and blood. He was found on his balcony, slumped against the wall, surrounded by his own blood. Though the Maesters had done their best to dress him up and make him presentable, there was no hiding the deep gash across my father's neck. Whoever had done this had done so with a simple swipe across the throat, presumably ending the king's life in seconds. Lord Commnder Rolly had suffered a similar fate, but his was not a slash but rather a stab wound to the neck. Aside from the two lifeless corpses, the culprit had left no trace of his deeds. Whomever the man was, he was clearly a master of his trade.
My father was still a relatively young man upon his passing, and as such, I was barely a man myself when I came into the throne. Though young, I was still raised as a prince, and as such, had been groomed to one day succeed my father from a young age. From a very young age, it was clear that I was my father's son. I inherited his knack for diplomacy, while simultaneously showing prowess with a blade, even after my affliction. As a young child, Greyscale nearly took my whole hand, but the Maesters saved it by only removing the last two fingers on my hand. As a child, my sister and friends began calling me prongs, as the three remaining fingers I had resembled a pitchfork more than a hand. Though a sign of affection, such a nickname could not be used now that I was king- how could anyone take a king seriously with a name like prongs? Even with my maiming, I could still wield a blade better than most, though I hoped that my reign would not see the bloodshed my father's had. Within two weeks of my father's passing, lords and ladies from across the realm gathered in the Great Sept to bare witness to my coronation. In the sight of gods and men, I was named Rhaegar of the House Targaryen, first of my name, King of the Andals, the Rhoynar and the First Men, Lord of the Seven Kingdoms and Protector of the Realm.
With my father's remains dealt with, and my coronation seen too, attention turned to the transition from my father's reign to my own. The first matter at hand was with regard to the passing of the Lord Commander. Ser Rolly was dead, and not only did a seventh sword need to be selected, but so too did a Lord Commander. I named Ser Cressen, a knight in service of the royal court for some years, as the newest member of my Kingsguard. Balon Swann, a man who had served the Lannisters, but was nonetheless a loyal and trustworthy man, was named the Lord Commander of my Kingsguard. With that matter attended to, my attention turned to the establishment of a new small council. My father's council had served him well, but alas I was not my father, I needed my own men at my side. A few of my father's council kept their places, with Edmure Tully remaining as my Master of Laws and my mother remaining as Master of Whisperers. Following tradition, Balon Swann became my new Master-at-Arms, and my sister-wife replaced Willas Tyrell as Master of Coin. Lord Willas was not removed entirely however. As my uncle, he was one of my most trusted allies and had served my father well for many years. I named Lord Willas as my new Hand, taking the place of Lord Jon who was allowed to return to the Stormlands to see out his remaining years in peace.
The first days of my reign saw the situation in the North and the Iron Islands brought to my attention. In the last months of my father's reign, the North had been at war with both the Riverlands and themselves. Edmure Tully had taken control of the Neck years ago, and Rickon Stark was fighting to return it to his domain. With the Tully's pressing them from the south, Rickon Stark was faced with a civil war, as many lords pressed the claim of a lady claiming to be the missing Arya Stark. Over in the Iron Islands, Harras Harlaw still reigned as Iron King, a fact that I wished to undo at the soonest possible convenience. Though the full strength of the Iron Throne could surely secure the islands once more, my council advised me to weaken the islands before striking. The Greyjoy's had been supplanted many years ago, and would surely still remember their claim on the lordship over the islands. I sent Lord Edmure to Pyke, in hopes that he might be able to incite the Greyjoys to rebel against the Harlaws. Should they prove victorious, perhaps they'd be willing to rejoin the realm peacefully. Should they lose, the Iron Islands will be weakened and the invasion all the easier.
Word soon arrived from Winterfell of some grave news. Rickon Stark, the third legitimate son of Eddard Stark, had been murdered, much like my own father. The perpetrator however did not escape, and the man was quickly put to justice. A lowly lord from the Riverlands, Waltyr Terrick had slipped into Winterfell and his blade into Lord Rickon's heart. Failing to escape the walls, Lord Waltyr quickly found his head atop the castle ramparts. With Lord Rickard's passing, the lordship of the North fell to his son, a boy of six named Beron. Many years ago, Rickon Stark had taken the gods from beyond the Wall as his own, an act which even in the North was unfavorable. I decided to take on Lord Beron as my personal ward, in hopes that I could convince him to change his father's ways and turn back to the gods of his ancestors, or perhaps even to the Seven. Beron Stark arrived in the capital over a month later, while his regents and council ruled over the North in his name, and fought the young lord's wars as well.
Nearing the end of the year, Lord Edmure sent word from Pyke of the happenings on the Iron Islands. Lady Frenya Greyjoy, the matriarch of House Greyjoy, had been imprisoned for suspected treason against the Iron King. In a surprising turn of events, Lady Frenya demanded a trial by combat, choosing to stand for herself against the king's champion, and even more surprisingly, she won. Securing her release, Lady Frenya returned to Pyke and called her banners to her. Before long, the Greyjoys had mustered nearly ten thousand men on Pyke, and soon after they declared war to supplant House Harlaw and restore the rule of te Iron Islands to House Greyjoy. Though outnumbered three-to-one, the Greyjoy's had a ferocious vigor about them. Regardless of the outcome, the Iron Islands would see plenty of bloodshed before the war's conclusion- a fact that only benefited myself and my future plans.
Its great to see this AAR up and running again. However, Rhaegar will never be taken seriously as king if he continues to sport a bowl cut and sideburns. I know the game tends to assign beards and hairstyles rather arbitrarily, but please fix that if only for esthetics sake.

I know, I know. I've thought about changing it before, but a part of me just wants to roll with what the game has given me. Whenever I play as a Valyrian, I tend to choose the long hair that I had with Aegon, or that Prince Rhaegar had decades ago. I don't want everyone looking the same, but I also don't like this haircut either. Perhaps I'll try and find a way to write a change into the story, or perhaps I'll think of a reason as to why he has his hair like that.
