I was looking at de Gaulle quotes, and some of them seem like they were taken right out of the crown atomic world.

" The true statesman is the one who is willing to take risks.

The leader must aim high, see big, judge widely, thus setting himself apart form the ordinary people who debate in narrow confines.

Don't ask me who's influenced me. A lion is made up of the lambs he's digested, and I've been reading all my life.

I have come to the conclusion that politics are too serious a matter to be left to the politicians.

You may be sure that the Americans will commit all the stupidities they can think of, plus some that are beyond imagination.

France cannot be France without greatness.

Treaties are like roses and young girls. They last while they last.

I grew up to always respect authority and respect those in charge.

A great country worthy of the name does not have any friends.

The sword is the axis of the world and its power is absolute.

I have tried to lift France out of the mud. But she will return to her errors and vomitings. I cannot prevent the French from being French.

When I am right, I get angry. Churchill gets angry when he is wrong. We are angry at each other much of the time.

Once upon a time there was an old country, wrapped up in habit and caution. We have to transform our old France into a new country and marry it to its time."

Conclusion: de Gaulle is originally from the crown atomic timeline

You may not like it but this is what peak French leadership looks like.:D

I found another golden one from Charles de Chad
"In politics it is necessary either to betray one's country or the electorate. I prefer to betray the electorate."

(- Napoleon VI, seconds before declaring absolutist rule upon de Gaulle's death)

Palpatine's got nothing on de Gaulle.:p

These quotes from De Gaulle are quite interesting, he is definitely one WW2 leader you definitely don’t hear a lot about in OTL.

I’m new to Crown Atomic myself (read the first few updates) so forgive me if these questions have been addressed before, but do 1984 and Animal Farm even exists here since this world is mostly dominated by authoritian powers and Orwell had socalists leanings while hating Soviet communism?

Orwell became a minister in totalist UoB under Mosley. 1984 was written as a propaganda piece at the start of the conflict, showing an ideal socialist world after the international won (this happen is game, no mention in CA) After the war he was captured and imprisoned for life. He spent his time writing memoirs and books, none of which have yet been allowed to the public by censors. He wrote animal farm during this time, which was similar to our own as a criticism of totalism. Some say that a copy was given to the king himself, but this is likely just a rumor. He dies in prison.

What'ya wanna bet that there are anons shitposting on CA's version of /his/ or /pol/ or whatever the fuck about 1984

Unless he pulls a Darth Plagueis.:p
Did you ever hear the tragedy of Darth de Gaulle the Wise?:D

Edit: Come to think of it, Star Wars is going to be quite interesting here since this world has a whole bunch of empires in it so we can’t necessarily make the Empire the bad guys. Guess the Empire and rebels will be switching places in terms of who’s the good and bad guys.:D That or take the zenpheonix route of having imperial rebels go against the evil republic.

Idle thought: Would the CAverse ever have something like Yes Minister? Or would Imperial censors consider it a bit too much of an on-the-nose portrayal of the government to risk general distribution for fear of giving the wrong sort of people the wrong sort of ideas?

Political satire is not something that we would see in the empire. The Empire wants to keep peoples faith in the state and in the king so that they will be united through the state. It is borderline fascism. However we may see something like it after the dissolving of the entente and the neutralizing of the AUS as a threat. After eddy dies Elisabeth may very well take the empire on a more liberalizing direction. A future yes minister would still be the kind of thing conservatives want banned and that liberals (real ones this time) claim is loyal opposition. I doubt that the empire will be accepting people making fun of the king or openly mocking the government anytime soon, so even if the empire loosens up a bit yes minister will have to hold its tongue both for the censors and the general public.
