The Crimean Khanate event is still the worst in the game

I also think that there should be an option to make crimea a tributary of the ottomans, rather than a march or vassal, because the AI cannot handle it, they always annexing them, and thats a huge problem.

Then it's not new.

It is new because it's a new interaction that tributaries becomes vassals when an overlord is vassalized.

Another thing, the whole march/not march is about a pretender civil war, right? So then why, if Ottomans support legitimate government, and pretenders win, do they stay a subject?

Exactly. This always made no sense to me. When I first saw it I was like 'oh, maybe they spawned from some unrest penalty'. Then I saw it was coded into the event and was like...wtf?

Maybe that's actually a decent way to at least add gameplay to the event -- surrounding countries can contribute to the rebels a la the Dutch rebellion or English Civil War in order to influence the outcome.

Another reason why this event sucks:

After the Ottos annex Crimea, it seems like every country that goes to war with them focuses on the fort in Crimea because they keep trying to evade Ottoman armies. So they just sit there trying to siege a worthless unblockaded fort while their capital gets taken.

Watch a game where this event fires. Here are the Mamluks running all the way thorugh my territory trying to evade the Ottomans while their country gets seiged:

In just this run alone I've seen this happen four times.

I've not seen the Crimean AI accept this event in quite a while. Usually the Ottomans have to force them into submission, and I'm OK with that. It's no different than getting free claims or a vassalization CB from a mission(EX: England>Scotland).

This is after all land that The Ottomans held at some point. Ideally the AI would be programmed to let them keep march status.

One of the problems is that it's a dice roll for if the strongest power gets an extra direction to expand it. Its implementation is terrible too (pretender rebels that do nothing, you cannot affect them anyway), and the Crimean march becomes Ottoman territory after 12 years or so.
