See the July 9th dev diary on the RNW for more details. The RNW generation is going to be based on handcrafted landmasses.@DDRJake or @Wiz , I keep seeing similar landmasses being formed in the RNW across different tapings, but put in different places. Is that how the RNW works? Template landmasses randomly placed in the western hemisphere? Or is it purely coincidence that highly similar / identical regions formed in these twitch examples? I originally got the sense that the landmasses themselves would be completely random, but not sure that it's the case.

Go re-read the Dev Diary where Wiz mentioned the rework (it was months ago, no, I'm not digging it out for you).@DDRJake or @Wiz , I keep seeing similar landmasses being formed in the RNW across different tapings, but put in different places. Yes he did. And he also said these player-created tiles would not affect checksum.Oh, and I'm fairly sure he also said we could add our own "tiles" to the mix, so modders can significantly up the number of possible landmasses (I'll be interested to see how long it takes someone to generate Westeros....)
Great, it used to be like that in EU3 until they introduced Trade Leagues in some expansion and I guess they just left it like that for EU4.It is not. And it should never really have been to be honest.
player-created tiles would not affect checksum
And on the Morean peninsula as well (the 2 provinces held directly by Byz and Athens).
Yes.In translation, does that mean it won't affect Ironman?
Ironman will be usable even with mods. Just achievements won't be available. I take the checksum comment to mean that the player-created tiles will allow achievements. In translation, does that mean it won't affect Ironman?
Sunspawn is just trolling. TUR didn't get cores on BYZ lands.I guess any core ownership rules went to the trash bin.

Thanks guys, all very helpful. I was in China w/o a VPN when that July 9th Dev Diary came out, which is probably why I missed it
It didn't appear as if there were any strait crossings in any location, which of course would have solved the problem since you can migrate and colonize over straits. So, were there strait crossings that I simply couldn't see or are natives getting new migration/colonization mechanics in the epic long patch notes?
You know this was moddable and is going to remain moddable right? lol"All provinces have gotten one more building slot"
FINALLY.
