THE COMING OF THE INCA
An Inca-Bolivia AAR for EU2 and Victoria
INTRODUCTION
This is my very first AAR, so don't be too harsh. I am going to attempt to survive the whole EU2 time frame and then convert the save game .eug file into a Victoria: Empire under the Sun file to continue playing using the EU2Rev utility that can be downloaded here as well as if possible converting the following save game into Hearts of Iron II using the Exporter that came with Victoria: Revolutions, this gives a possible time frame from 1419 to 1964. The reason it will become Bolivia is because Victoria and Hearts of Iron II have no Inca Empire Country Files. But I will give good reasoning for this country name change in my story. The first chapter begins with the vision of Viracocha. Enjoy!
Chapter I
The Road to War
One Great Day in January (of the European Calendars) in 1419 Great Sapa Inca Hatun Tupaq approached the Great Hall of Cuzco. All he could think about was his dream that he had had the previous night as he walked up the great pyramidis structure. Inside the main room of the Hall were his many ambassadors and advisers. Hatun Tupaq took his seat at the head of the table as one by the one the councillors greeted and bowed to the Sapa Inca.”Now to my first order of business. I believe the gods have showed me the way to a great Inca Empire” he announced. Suddenly a great deal of whispers began to circle the council. “Yes, the god of Viracocha came to me in a dream. She said we must remove the Chimú from the lands to the North West and secure the ends of the coastline and create a gold empire out of the Kingdom of Cuzco! She said we are worthy of this task because we have overcome the hardships of extending the kingdom into the lands of the south. She has also told me that I must secure north to survive untouched by the ghost people from far east of out homeland, they will arrive from the Amazon, which show great power through trekking the jungle” continued Hatun Tupaq. “They will arrive on the eastern coast in less than one hundred years”. Suddenly a number of councillors stood up. First to speak was Advisor Raputua, he was a man of great age and wisdom, “Great Sapa Inca Hatun Tupaq, you shall be renamed Viracocha after the god that has spoken to you! You must lead us to victory against the ghosts from the east!”. The rest seemed to halt there comments after been held back by the heavy voice of the old man. “Then it is settled! We will increase border regiments against the Chimú groups! We will expand the fortresses in the area as well, just as a precaution, and we shall increase the gold going to into our banks, which would normally go to civilian needs to fund the coming war!”
The Council stood and cheered at the newly crowned Great Sapa Inca Viracocha for they knew that a new age had begun. By the end of the year 19 new regiments had been recruited along the Chimú border. This is the date in history; the historians believe that the Kingdom of Cuzco went from a Monarchist regime to a absolutist militarist state.
All though the peoples of the area around the border had become extremely suspicious most of these worries had disappeared by the early months of 1420.
In November 1421 word came to the Kingdom of Cuzco that a Chimú chief had banded together all the groups of Chimú and unified it into one large state. The Sapa Inca announced that this banding together of groups was to be seen negatively by the Kingdom of Cuzco. Amongst the council this is what they believed was meant in the great dream of Great Sapa Inca Viracocha.
In February the following year the Chimú militia on the north border was causing troubles, including strange movements so a Border Dispute resulted and Viracocha announced that the Kingdom of Cuzco now had claims on the lands to the north. The Public was enthusiastic about reclamation of the area. War was now a great possibility.
Atahuallpa was the leader Viracocha assigned to the three border armies which now numbered nearly 67,000 soldiers. 20,000 of which were stationed in the newly established city of Occlo, which would one day be called Lima. War was coming closer and closer.
On March 3rd 1425, a revolt occurred in the far south. This caused Atakuallpa’s third and northern most army to leave its post and venture south across the Andes to repress the peasant rebellion. The revolt was destroyed were it began in mid August. Viracocha announced to the public from the Great Hall in Cuzco that Chimú nation was behind the revolt. By now nearly 80,000 soldiers were in waiting for the coming war.
NOTE: I hoped you enjoyed the first chapter of "THE COMING OF THE INCA" but one question to all fellow AAR Makers, how do you take screenshots in EU2 because I cannot find a program that supports the game. Thank you.
