Hi, I'm really liking NSB in theory witt all the complexity and not least supply and railroads and all that, and I watched some YouTube videos to get me up to speed on how it works before playing. But oh boy, did I fail!

Played Germany and all went smoothly, paid attention to railways to plan ahead for the offensives, had surprisingly high casualties many places, but it's early game and it was just a bit of a challenge right? Then Barbarossa... I gave the Soviets a good whipping in the summer of 1941, just able to take Moscow before winter, yet not quite reaching Stalingrad unlike previous playthroughs (consoled my way to get Finland aboard since the game never seem to make this happen without ridiculously long-term planning - have to cheat to keep the US out of the war early too, as they seem to join the allies in 1940 a lot).

December 1941: Most of the front is at a standstill for the winter and I begin to pay attention to other things. I notice the notification about my garrisons lacking equipment. I'm surprised because I had a huge(!) stockpile of inf.equipment and support equipment. Holy shit, I'm at -30K. I check resistance levels and they're at over 90% in much of occupied Europe while I was busy on the Eastern front. I had tens of thousands of surplus trucks, now I'm at -10K or so. Support equipment is also fucked. I'm not going to continue this game obviously because the whole thing is falling apart and I'm going to have rebellions all over, and just looking at the list of what needs repairing due to sabotage all over the place... And the rail lines are sabotaged all over, so there aren't enough capacity to both build new railroads and fix the sabotaged ones, and that's just the supply side of things...

Guess I should have paid more attention, but my point is that I'm obviously playing this all wrong with NSB, and I'm assuming I should have micro'd the offensives a lot, because I use fronts that I let the AI take care of when not forcing encirclements, and it doesn't seem to take supply into consideration much. A lot of the front has been in low supply throughout despite me using full trucks on the hubs close to the front. My assumption is that low supply is what has wasted HUGE amounts of equipment. I'm guessing using small armies on smaller fronts and microing their offensives towards hubs is a way to do this? But if I'm reading the situation somewhat correctly, the AI must end up in this situation a lot unless it's own offensives automatically follow supply lines? Has anyone looked into how AI Germany fairs at this point in Barbarossa? My play-style is very obviously obsolete and in no way can I survive war with any equipment intact...

Does anyone have recommendations for good YouTube videos about how to do offensives, organise armies and fronts, halt for supply to catch up, designing units with supply and equipment losses in mind and so on? I don't need the rundown of the basics, but detailed and with demonstration.

Any other input is highly appreciated!

Resistance of over 90% will bleed your garrisons dry in short order. La Resistance changes to occupation can be BRUTAL if left unchecked, way more than minor attrition for low supply.

Maybe try some Bittersteel videos? Here is a good explanation, how to do a circle in new supply system:
and here how to fight against USSR with infantry and motorize divisions:

Indeed! But I think these resistance levels came as a result of the garrisons being without equipment over time, since local police should keep resistance at tolerable levels as long as the garrisons are equipped (using cav+MP).

Armored Car or obsolated light tank add armor for garrisons, reduce huge amount of damage.
Martial law is best for Germany, for saving manpower, especialy France and now Soviet Union has high resistance.

One thing I learned is to try to make sure garrisons use nothing but infantry equipment, little else. Trying to balance between different templates, or mixing in armor car or tanks etc. isn't worth it if you cant keep them equipped.

And I guess it comes down to play style but it is easier for me to manage infantry equipment alone than worry about support equipment for garrisons. Like literally a 1 batallion infantry guy is better than anything else if all you have is a stockpile of infantry equipment and huge deficits everywhere else.

Like for me I start the game with those 10 factories on Mauser guns, Infantry equipment 1, and they stay producing them for the entire game.

Also don't attack in winter. Just hit stop across the board and wait until the snow melts.

Don't extensively motorize if you don't benefit from it.

If hubs are too far from the front, then what you need are better rail roads, or to capture the next hub.

Any sort of attack into mud or heavy snow will just annihilate equipment at alarming rate. I tested this on one combat where I had enemy encircled on single province with rainfall, resulting in mud about 50% of reloads.
In no mud attack I lost 4 guns and 1 support eq while when attacking in into mud I lost 30 tanks, 100s guns, tens of support, artillery etc. This means you have literally micro all attacks to avoid massive losses...

NSB definitely made resistance more annoying, maybe it’s just Poland having those spirits, but it certainly feels like resistance is higher everywhere than before the update.

A picture of the front would be useful. Most likely:
- You're short of trains
- You're short of trucks
- You're short of fuel
- Your railway has a choke point (where it's only 1 and should be 3-5)
- The AI scorched earth and you haven't repaired the railways
- Etc.

And yes, taking key cities and supply hubs is now quite important since you need access to them, whilst before you would just encircle and leave them for a while.
