Celts for the win!!!
Aye.
Damn right.
Yeah, Ireland strikes me as pretty irellevent in a game of Rome. Unless one wishes to attempt Agricola's ambition of conquering the island with one legion.
Ireland is irrelivant, but the fact is it was in striking distance, and there was somewhat of an ambition in place in the mind of Agricola, at least.
That said, there is a dispute - legally and subsequently also historically about an archaeological site at Drumanagh some 30km north of Dublin city, about the possibility of a Roman structure - outpost, trading site, military fort - or something indigeonous with a high disproportion of Roman goods and even arms? Due to a legal battle nothing is being done, and nothing can be done. Which is quite a shame.
At present all there is is speculation on the finds that have leaked through a legal block of all information and findings, due to legal implications. Upon this speculation, one of the arguments stands as the disproportionate physical evidence left behind by the Romans in England and Wales, in comparison to other parts of the Empire (ie, although there is sufficient evidence, there is less in this part of the Empire than the rest) - while I do not agree at all with this, those wishful thinkers argue that it could have allowed for several incursions into Ireland, large or small, that may have been very, very temporary.
As for Gaelic (Which at the time Gaelic tribes only inhabited Ireland, the Isle of Man and remote western parts of Scotland) tribes - I don't think they're prominant enough to be put in the game. Unless you have very small provinces in Ireland, which I assume would be disproportionate to other areas, allowing for smaller less significant factions to be added to the game. But I can't think of any that should be in it, there were quite a few - looking at a map, all I can think of being remotely familiar as a large enough tiny to small faction could be Iverni or Brigantes.
I would want the island in the game, but not necessarily the tribes.
