What do we know about how CK will handle the raising (and more importantly, the maintaning) of troops?

Aside from mercenaries, it appears Western Medieval monarchs were hard pressed to maintain a continuous fighting body. Magnates appear to have melted away rather quickly once their 40 days, or whatever agreed time of service, was fulfilled.

Further, the economics of war seem to have made prolonged, large scale, conflict prohibitive. Thoughts?

From what I have seen so far the game seems to aim for accuracy in that the liege lord can call up his vassals for a certain period. How the question of larger, longer, campaigns can be solved is one I look forward to see...

It was possible (and also done) to pay troops to stay longer. It should be hard to keep a large army in the field for a long time though.

There was some mention of the Church "magically" supplying forces in the Levant (IIRC) and the purchase of supply trains to keep the troops fed - but no mention of how long those troops were obliged to remain with the army. From what has been said before though, i would imagine there would be a realistic mixture of feudal service plus pay for additional time in the field as well as mercenaries (as long as the $$$ hold out).:)
