The British Legacy
An English - British AAR
By Levdragon
Background: Hello everyone as none of you know I am Levdragon and have very recently joined EU forums. This is my first AAR and my 7th post :D but I am very enthusiastic about doing an AAR. My EU skills aren't super great but I don't suck either.

Mod Info: No official mods have been added but changes have been made by me which are:

-Core gain years reduced to 20 years, core lose increased to 80 years.
-Annexation is possible for every nation however, only when controlling every single province/colony. [I've tested this out in many games and it is not rigged infact, this makes the game alot funner for me and alot more realisitc for this AAR therefore benefiting the readers.
-Romania, Beglum, Czech, Slovakia, Macedonia, Czechoslavkia, Belarus, Slovenia and New Rome have been added. Romania, Belgium, Macedonia, Czech, Slovakia, Belarus, Slovenia and Ireland all have cores on their appropriate lands.
-Czechoslovakia can be formed by Bohemia, Czech or Slovakia. New Rome can be formed by all Italians including Papal States [BTW New Rome is only there for the fun of it and has the italian flag with RR on it which was the military flag for facist Italy.]
-Some colour and flag changes have been added here and there from the years I've been playing EU.

Game Info:

-This AAR will use HTTT expansion unpatched.
-Difficulty set to normal
-AI Aggressiveness will be set to Normal
-There are no lucky nations as luck is self formed ;P
-No saving/loading because of bad events i.e - France inheriting castile, aragon and a portugese superpower or because a meteor spam is happening
-Game starts in Grand Campagin 1399.1.1 and ends either at end date or when I get annexed

Times:

-This AAR will be updated with new gameplay every time a monarch dies, so this AAR is set into chapters by rulers and lines.
-If you think I am not contributing enough time to this AAR please by all means tell me and I will contribute more. :)

I am very eager to start this AAR and cannot wait for response :) , so please give any feedback you think is relevent be it positive or negative.

~King Lev Lancaster~

Lancaster - King Henry IV

The Lancaster Line

King Henry IV
**Coronated on the 12th of September in 1399**

The Early Years 1399 to Jan-1404

Bells ringing and choirs singing, on the 12th of September the nobility and peasant folk alike celebrate the coronation of Henry IV and even the portugese send envoys to england with gifts and exotics from north africa.

Henry spent his early years travelling throughtout the major english cities and gaining more support from the people which made the aristocracts worried however, not rebelious. Henry devoted alot of resources in increasing the english name throughtout europe and increased relations with Burgandary and Portugal forming alliances and royal marriges with both.

In November 1402 Henry had a dream, a dream of a unified Britian and France and england finally becoming a major nation in europe. He spent months convincing his allies and the nobles of a war plan to take scotland and finally in Feburary 1403 england declared war on Scotland and moblizied with Portugal and Burgundary joining the War of Scottish Subjugation.

The War of Scottish Subjugation 1404 Feb-Oct

eu31.png

English soldiers mobilize and march on Southern Scotland.

In mearly a month the english forces surrounded and forced the scottish troops to abandon lower scotland and their capital and fled to the highlands. The portugese having blocked the western isles forces the scottish to abanded their fleets and rally support from the peasantry in the highlands.

Four months later with a new army the scottish forces prepared to retake and resupply their besieged forts and provinces in the south however, thanks to the graet leadership of Robet Knolles they were repelled and the King of Scotland forced to surrender.

This nine month war showed the other european nations that england was a rising nation and now had scotland under her thumb as a vassal nation.

Years of Power 1404-Oct to 1408-April

After the war Henry's dream of an english Britian became half true however, britian was not english, only unified under english control. Never the less the people loved Henry and his name was spoken in every peasant house for grace and praised by the merchants.

However, Henry was slowly and discreatly cedeing more power to the crown and leaving less and less for the nobility which angered them. henry abolished national institions, freed british trade and took privilages from the nobles and instead bestowed them upon himself and the plutocracy.

The Conquest of Ireland 1408-May to 1419-Jan

Henry's dream was becoming more and more real every year and soon Henry moved his gaze upon the west, Ireland. These lands weren't claimed by the english however, because of Henry's charm he convinced the nobility of england and scotland to aid him in the conquest of Ireland.

Starting in 1408 April Henry led an 11 year war against the forces of spilt Ireland and finally in 1419 Janurary, Connaught the last stronghold of the irish fell and Britian stood united and reformed.

The Eye of the Storm 1419-Fed to 1437-Jan

eu372.png

Territory of the Commonwealth of England. (Not including English-French held lands.)

18 years of peace followed with Henry becomming more and more powerful. The Nobility of england suffered when Henry formed a commonwealth of Scottish, English and newly conquered Brittany nations, with England ruling over the nations.

The nobility sent an envoy to Burgundary asking for help against Henry and in reponse sent an assassin to deal with Henry's great heir, Henry V. Unknown to the nobility the burgundarian king planned to assassinate Henry V, Henry IV's only son and because of the royal marrige place the burgundaries in control of england.

The assassin succeded and Henry V soon lay dead. As Henry IV was mourning the burgundarian King announced his claims to the throne and in anger Henry IV cancelled their alliance. Seeing no other choice Henry placed his other, illegimate son next in line to the throne, James.

The Burgundarians plan were finally ruined when James died and 3 months later Richard, the King's son was born. Finally the throne and commonwealth were safe and the enlglish could finally breath again.

The French-English War 1437-Feb ->

Henry knew his days as King and on this earth were almost up and so to finally fulfil his dream he convinced the people and nobility to start a war with france in order to reclaim normandy, in response the Austrians and Norwegens pledged their support in this war. Aragon and Hungary had no other choice but to support France is fear of 1. Austrian getting more french-italian lands and
2.England conquering foix and sharing a border with Aragorn.

Finally during the last days of the month war was declared and the Great French-English war began, however as soon as the war began Henry died leaving his 2 year old son as King. (French propaganda had the french people believe that God killed Henry for declaring war on France.)

The Two Sides

The Commonwealth of England: England, Scotland, Brittany [Allies:Austria, Norway]

The Crown of France: France, Orleans, Foix, Bourbounaais [Allies:Hungary, Aragon]

Now the war has started and who knows how long it will rage for and how will be the winner, who shall win? Will the English fulfill their dream of a pro-English France, or will France finally reclaim their lands in Aquitane and Calais.

--- To be continued in the next chapter.

Yes intially they were my allies however, as soon as I moved my eye to ireland which was guaranteed by brittany they unallied me :/ so my hopes of beating france were terminated. But then hungary allied perfect austria hates hungary so austria accepted my alliance and when i formed GB norway jumped to the chance of defending orky so they allies me. Then I knew I'd easily win, the main french army attack the hasburgs but hungary got steamrolled and accepted 2 provinces secede to austria... woops im rantling this is for the next update ;P

King Richard III
***Regency***

French-English War & Thank God for the Commonwealth 1437-March to 1441-Oct

Confident with his newly bolstered forces regent Henry Rooke and co-regent Jeremy Clive took momentary control of Great Britian and the Commonwealth from the 2 year old Richard.

Within two years of war Austria has beaten hungary back and is forced to surrender however, the french have taken Western Austria so the Hasburgs cannot help the Commonwealth in this war just yet.

Jeremy himself looked through a spyglass watching from a nearby Carrack as Commonwealth and Allied infantry and cavalry stormed Normandy, a glorious feat and the predecessor of another feat just like this one 500 years into the future in Germany occupied France.

With Normandy and Caux under British hands and French-Manuta under the Hasburgs, France accepted secedeing Normandy and Caux back to their rightful rulers and allowing King Richard III as King of both Great Britian and France.

Greater then Great Britian 1441-Nov to 1450-Sep

Now with both France and Britian under Richard's thumb and the war concluded his regents were no longer needed. However, the regents plotted behind Richard's back and then one year later openly protetested against him. Only with the support of the plutocracy were they defeated and banished to the most dreadful Calais in France.

With the noble rebellion over (for now :hint  hint:) Richard grew into a greedy and spiteful ruler, eventually in May 1445 he disbanded the commonwealth and took full control over Britian as Emporer of the Isles and France, a most prestigeus title.

eu385.png
British-French lands after the french rebels were put-down.

For the next few years Richard took more and more power from the nobles, peasants and merchants alike, leaving his nation lacking military, spiritual, tax and trade income, making Britian a former shell in power.

Return of Henry and the Civil War 1450-Oct ->

For 10 years in Calais two men plotted and planned waiting for their opportunity and then with all of Richard's reforms they felt it was time.

eu3115.png

They manipulated and sponsered a young noble to cause uproar due to Richards last reform. Naturally Richard rejected these conditions and therefore in Calais then nobles spondered the two ex-regents to cause a revolution.

eu3155.png

British attempts to retake Calais failed and then with enough support a civil war was engineered by Henry and all over England, Ireland and Scotland peasants rose in uproar.

Scotland declared its indepdence and Ireland was taken by Revolutionaries, eventually Calais was retaken and the Scottish occupied forcing Henry to flee. Jeremy was captured in Calais castle and executed for crimes against the imperial crown.

eu323.png

With the Empire in total chaos and Burgundary invading France Richard fell into a depression staying in his palace for months on end. Finally it reached the limit as the King's final supporters made an ultimatium...

Very good report...nicely done...no matter the outcome...you are doing nicely...now, recover...protecting and holding onto what you have...then take small bites and retake what is yours.

Good luck and stay the course...the whole world awaits your next move...and, have fun.

Well since I had such luck previously with france I thought I'd make it more interesting by typing in event something and woops it got out of hand :O

Anyway I think it suited the event very good especially when my WE was very high cause of Burgundarys stupid DoW :/ good thing my ruler was usupered.

I havent updated yet because of internet problems but I will update soon, incase your interested I think my plans will be to reincorperate scotland into my territory, aid france in the war and conquer the flander area and at the same time invest moeny into stability and beating the rebels.

Hopefully I won't lose any land in this war but I'm willing to give some land to Burgundary if thats what it comes to
