The British Empire problem

If I invaded Britain, and defeated her on her home soil, would that be enough to puppet her? or would I need to captuer most of her colonies too?

If I remember correctly, you're going to need a pretty large chunk of Indian, African, and maybe even Pacific British VP holdings, along with the British mainland, to achieve puppetry. The British are spread out everywhere and it makes puppeting, not no mention annexing, very hard. It can be done, but be prepared to really hunt the Brits down.

I generally just keep an eye on Japan. If they start really gobbling up the British in the Far East, then I start thinking about whether or not to go for puppeting or annexing the UK. If they Brits are holding their own, though, it is not worth the trouble. That doesn't mean it isn't a good idea to occupy England, if you can. You will grab their stash of resources, which is basically 99999 of everything.

you need to have 2/3 or was it 75% (dont remember exactly) to puppet a nation. The UK has a lot of them and they are spread out all over the world...

It's 66% (aka 2/3).


Remember you also have to outnumber their forces by at least 1:2!

For puppeting, at least in the most basic version of the game, u just need 66% of Britans Victory Points.

To puppet England, you need all of England (including Belfast), plus the Suez provinces with VP's - Alexandria, Port Said, Suez, I think. At least this was enough for me to puppet England in a game I played not so long ago. Not sure what is needed for annexation.

You must have had help from Japan. That has never been enough for me, and I have annexed or puppeted England pretty much every time I played Germany, and few times playing the Soviet Union....and one time playing Turkey.

What prolly happened was Japan kicked their butts in Asia and took Hong Kong and Siam away from 'em. That, with all of their European and N. African VP, is enough to puppet them. To annex, I always end up having to take all of that plus India.

Sheesh. I coulda put it real simply. To annex you need everything (VP-wise) that they have, including everything they've taken from others.
