There seems to be a "give control of state" and "request control of state' on the diplomatic menu when you are in the same faction with some else (spotted it in the first World War Wednesday as an option available to Germany when Italy joined the Axis). With a puppet, who likely can't say no, that probably means pretty direct control is possible.

Sounds very promising if true!

Playing as the British Empire in nearly every paradox game is a true logistical nightmare.

Playing in HoI2, there was practically no continent you didn't fight on. Having to run between the Indians in Burma fighting off the Japanese with hands tied behind their backs, some ragtag force in Northern Africa playing cat and mouse with the Italians and Germans, as you fended off the Italian tanks in Africa proper with Zulu spearmen while managing your Navy in the Meditteranean attempting to lockdown the Axis navy and micromanaging your sub hunting crews in Western Europe while swatting away the luftwaffe and trying to hold your tend thousand islands around the pacific and Indian coasts from yet more Japanese is enough to give a man a nervous breakdown.

I think as an opponent of the UK you will be spending a lot of causing issues with India, knock India out and 1940 looks very different for the UK. If you can coup and ally India as Germany,.

China would be crushed from each side and North Africa is no longer a big problem, just get India to take Persia and come for revenge against the brits in the Middle East.

I would like to have the EU4 details for puppets where you set them a focus and leave them too it. So make sure the Indians focus on infantry and support so you can send them planes and ships.

My first game is always as the UK for exactly this reason :)

Exactly. If this is possible then it is OK. If this is not possible then it's going to be a bloody pain.

The British Empire is complicated enough that it would need a DLC to do it justice. You have everything from informal empire over nominally independent states (e.g., Iraq), to democratic self-governing Dominions (Canada, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa), to colonies (Nigeria), to protectorates (Egypt).

You cannot simply handle Canada as a puppet because it was not a puppet, but handling Canada simply as an independent state allied with the UK misses out the depth of the co-operation between the two. Handling Egypt as British territory misses out the very real fact that Egypt's rulers had 100,000+ strong army and were to a degree sympathetic to the Axis.
Totally agree........ Bring on the Mother Country DLC focusing on Britain and the commonwealth. I always felt there were a lot of interesting events and that could be taken up by a dlc. The relationship between Britain and the commonwealth has never been accurately depicted in HOI.
