Jingles- I don't have the VIP mod, and yes, I've already researched "Stae and Government". Been the n00b I was who didn't understand Politics and Ideology, I think I picked "vote on ideology". So I'll need to promote POP's. With that said- can I afford to have 9 months of paying £250 a day for social reforms. I think I'll reload the save, select "no" to the reforms, then put the military in every province. I'll set taxes to 0% and 7 years of that will probably work out better than 7 years of paying off massive debts.

You don't necessarily need 0% taxes, just make sure your POPs can get 100% of subsistence, everday, and luxury goods. They get their goods with a higher rate, and thus you get more money while getting the same reduction in militancy. Although consciousness is a different story, especially since you said you're a monarchy.

You could say no the reforms, take the big militancy hit, then convert to a constitutional monarchy and get rid of alot of militancy from your more liberal POPs, which are likely the ones to be most upset by the lack of social reforms.

Yeah, I think that's what I'll do. No to reforms, military in the provinces, and a constitutional monarchy. Will have to see how it goes. France is fighting Britain and has been for a few years now, so they're not going to be taking advantage of my weakened state, and Russia simply wouldn't be powerful enough to attack on their own. I can bide my time for a few more years. :)

Wow, another horrific game-breaking issue saved only but for the grace of an obscure hotfix.

Granted NGF/GER is pretty wealthy, but still...

Tech-backwards Britian, and now broke-Germany.

Most of the German POPs have high moralism, so the national party + military presence should be enough to drop the militancy to 0.

Can I just say I dislike this Hotfix. In the original game, this event allowed you too get three "good" reforms for only 500k, much cheaper what they would cost normally. In the new version, you just get "low" reforms :(
I think it would be much nicer if the event gave let you choose between big, small and no reforms, so an industrialised Germany still gets some advantage from the event.

If you don't like the event, edit it for your own personal tastes. Events are completely moddable, there is an excellent guide to event modding in Vickywiki, and it wouldn't take more than 5-10 mins to change the event along the lines you personally would prefer.

That's the great thing about Paradox games, don't like something, there's about a 90% chance you can mod it to make it more to your own liking.
