Repost from SD subreddit, but as a counterpoint to max_damage:

Against a 3rd Canadian deck: http://files.sd-replays.net/replayfiles/2519060342025574015-b9915e4d-861a-444d-a0d8-47ff92f5ee5a.zip

Against 101st: http://files.sd-replays.net/replayfiles/2519060342402132422-708e3084-e266- 4112-94e9-279775aae90f.zip

And a very close game against an excellent opponent, watch this one if you're only interested in watching one game. I couldn't decide on a side to focus on and made a lot of awful micro moves, so most of the failings in this replay are on me rather than the deck:

Still, Windhund is easily a top-tier 1v1 deck, make no mistake.

As I've mentioned in other threads, the supposed MG/mortar/AT meta suffers from poor breakthrough capability and inflexible, slow AT pieces. Since Windhund's got a very good arty complement in addition to its tanks/vehicles, you can break up static lines and start pushing more easily than you can with an infantry deck.

There's certainly alternatives to 3.FJ. I'm surprised to see so much focus on infantry when vehicles have most of the firepower and benefit from the Borg-like spotting behavior in Steel Division (and the Wargame series).

Dont get me wrong i dont want to discredit your game with 3rd canada but it is a 8 minutes game with 10:1 KDR. I ve had many of these with windhunt, too! If you can do the same in a 40 minutes game on an open map with at guns everywhere then this would be a completely diffirent matter.

To be honest he should have just put a single 6 pdr on that central town street and destroyed the halftracks. instead he opted to go for PIAT based antitank which is a receipt for disaster (i thought everyone knows about it already right?).

@Max_Damage
Your throwaway pilots want to have a word with you :p
You might reconsider those armored flame vehicles. They would have been good in that city. What also should work well with Windhund is a drive-by shooting through the city...maybe on 2 lanes as long as he doesn't come with the Ram through the city but then you can escape and use the houses as protection.

Is this replay more what you're looking for? Obviously, my opponent's not an 80%+ player, but I find that if anything open ground tends to favor Windhund more. AT guns seem to give me the most trouble in hedges and other close quarters maps (like pointe du hoc) where there's less room to avoid AT guns, less distance between you and the enemy, and higher first-shot kill chance.

Um no open maps with at guns everywhere are the worst for windhunt. At guns will always have 1st shot and will cover HUGE areas. And your main untis are armor 3 20mm cars and infantry halftracks. These are what you use to gain territory and win conquest points.

I've by no means had enough experience with the game to confidently offer any rankings, but as someone who has done almost exclusively 1v1 so far Indianhead is my favorite Allied division, and the PZGs are my favorite Axis division so far, with the Allied 3rd Armor being my number three pick overall.

So, given what everyone else is saying here, Indianhead sure looks like a division a lot of people agree is a good 1v1 division.
