Like the AAR that preceded this (and never finished), this is an attempt at conquering... well, as much as I possibly can in Europe before starting a game of dynastic feuding and control. Now, unlike the prior AAR which suggested a 5-empire split between various Belojevics, this one will remain (as best it can) unified under a single empire. Dejure borders once that empire forms, however, are subject to revision. Much revision. But that comes later. Also, AAR uses the full suite of mods that come with the current HIP release other than VIET Events.

Anyway, hope you enjoy the outlandish goals of a Serbian with too much ambition for one body. Don't mind the screaming; these things tend to balance precariously on the edge of "when will they attack" and "will this one be the one that ends me."

1. Biting the Hand
Like many stories, this one starts in some distant, quaint mountains, next to some lovely rivers. Yes, this tale starts in Serbia around the year 867.

noB63AJ.png

This story starts from humble beginnings, like many. Hvalimir ruled little more than a castle and the lands surrounding, here in Serbia...

JujbNrt.png

You see, Hvalimir doesn't actually rule Serbia; that kingdom won't exist for several hundred more years. He doesn't even rule the region of Serbia. No, that title goes to his uncle, Mutimir,
Veliki Župan of Raška. No, Hvalimir only rules his castle of Medun, and the surrounding lands of Travunija. Oh, why, I haven't even introduced you to Hvalimir yet!

dYcOfx5.png

While he might not be the best with money, his ambition will serve him well. And then there's his liege and uncle, Mutimir.

aaC7Uev.png

Not exactly a fitting ruler. Now, here at the dawn of the new year, Hvalimir has an epiphany- without his intervention, the whole idea of an independent land ruled by Serbs will collapse under his oaf of an uncle. So, he sets forth his plan:

1) Get away from this imbecile's feudal grip
2) Find a way close enough to the Bulgarians to swear fealty to their crown
3) Take the rest of Serbia from the protection of the Bulgarian kings
4) Break forth from Bulgaria as a true Serbian kingdom
5) Join the Byzantine crown to take from within
6) Emerge as Basileus, and use the guise of the Roman Empire to forge a true Serbian Empire

But, these first steps are always the hardest. With little money to his name, Hvalimir decides first to pick a bride to help with his monetary woes; preferably one that comes with a large dowry.

xeaaQqN.png

Karlings are, as always, a rather safe bet to make. From there, he decides to focus on leading his slice of land well enough to earn himself a tidy sum for mercenary funds, of which there shall be plenty. Now, it's only a matter of saving money and waiting.

Not that the waiting won't be interrupted. Hard to make much of a story out of that.

WMjitzE.png

Hvalimir condemns her to burn, mostly to quash the rebellion-minded few in Travunija; his mother managed to irritate the locals with higher taxes. In other parts of the world...

XHVWtmR.png

A rather surprising occurrence for 868, but doomed to fail as always; not that it would be the last, anyway. Not that it matters much; the weakness of the Muslim world does little to quell powers at home, and Hvalimir has enough of those already to want to worry about even greater ones abroad.

uveYIVK.jpg

Speaking of, some pagan ruler out of Bulgaria decided to attempt the conquest of Raška. While it might provide wonderful opportunity for an attempted bid at independence, it would also mean one more foe to best. Hvalimir can do little but stand by and watch.

UkMYyRP.jpg

By some rather odd turn, the pagans out of Strumica gained independence. This... won't help matters particularly much. It's not clear exactly how, but they did.

DRYRVZ9.png

Hvalimir decided the best way to celebrate the battle that could decide the fate of Serbia was with a wedding to his betrothed Karling bride. Hard to have a wedding while sweating bullets, though.

But, as expected...

gwn82Ix.png

Mutimir was not a brilliant strategist. Upside rested in that, with Mutimir's armies devastated, Hvalimir might not even need to fight a war for his independence.

((Now, here's where I would normally say "no such luck" as he declares war, but... something really wonky was going on. If I sent the ultimatum after he loses his war, it never arrives. If I send it before, the war is rather bugged out- I don't get any victory/loss messages, for instance. Weird. So instead, I had to declare war with the independence CB rather than the faction.))

Hvalimir sent some letters to his Karling allies in France hoping for a response; they were rather busy fighting Francia Orientalis.

DpFe6Pp.png

And with luck on his side, Hvalimir gains independence from that fool Mutimir, once and for all. Stage one of the plan, complete.

Unfortunately for Hvalimir, stage 2 involves waiting idly by as his chancellor fabricates a claim on Hvosno.

VxjP7io.png

Time is not on his side.

Again, the goal isn't really to conquer Europe so much as it is to see whether said empire could actually survive for particularly long under a proper structure. I'm not conquering the whole map, after all. I was originally going to do a multi-Empire split, but I realized that that would become so ridiculously unwieldy that this just makes more sense. You'll see how it'll go; it'll be at least far more interesting than a generic conquest campaign.

Assuming I actually get that far.

2. Those Pesky Little Details

((I should probably explain- HIP just updated, and did not have save compatibility. I also removed VIET Events due to personal preference. So, we get to do this all over again; same start, same character, same circumstances, so expect a bit less fanfare here since things should roughly go about the same))

From there, Hvalimir... Hvalimir... Oh hell, where was I in the story again? I completely forgot. Oh well, I'll just start from the beginning.

Hvalimir ruled his little Župa in Serbia under the Knez of Raška, Mutimir. He ruled, and the Belojevics ruled, for many generations until the Byzantines forced subservience. Only many centuries later did Serbia reinstate its inde- No, no, no! That's all wrong! Let's try starting from the beginning yet again...

Župan Hvalimir ruled under his uncle, Knez Mutimir, in Raška.

YNUKP6Z.png

Like I said before, he had an epiphany over his ruler being a fool, et cetera. Let's see if I can actually remember the details of all this correctly...

Who did he marry again? Right, right, it was Hildegard!

hIpR64n.png

Not Rotryde, Hildegard. How could I forget? Anyway, Mutinir decided on trying to raise feudal obligations; this didn't sit well with Hvalimir, since that would mean a stronger fighting force for the liege he wanted to depose. For the next year, Hvalimir simply set out in ruling his realm with the upmost efficiency.

XIONrLe.png

As he worked, others took notice. This gave him the drive to keep working at it; after all, he had to scrounge up enough gold to pay mercenaries long enough to ensure independence. In the meantime...

8O7lHWc.png

With luck, he had a second child to spread his dynasty to more than just him and his son. In the meantime, a civil war in Balgariya turned tide as Tsar Boris finally managed to mount an offensive.

ptFsaZI.png

Further East, the Abbâsiyúns suffered defeat after defeat- first two major revolts, then a Shi'a Caliphate.

p8sP9P4.jpg

No matter; a weaker East will make expansion easier to the south. Back to problems back home, Mutimir continued to irritate his vassals. Hvalimir attempted to exploit these enemies, hopefully to kill off Mutimir and leave Raška weak.

xAONzce.png

While not the best option, it would certainly devastate the size of his armies. More importantly, it meant a chance at taking Raška whole. You see, Mutimir was Hvalimir's uncle, which means that one of Hvalimir's parents was the brother of Mutimir. Mutimir had 3 siblings- two brothers and a sister who, conveniently, happened to be Hvalimir's mother. She inherited from her father a lovely claim on Raška that, when pressed, net Hvalimir a sizable portion of Serbia in one go.

The price of loss, though, would be everything; victory was far from assured.

The moment of declaration, Hvalimir hired the Breton Band for 110 gold and 5 more per month in order to even up the odds to even remotely possible. His armies still were outnumbered by almost 500 troops. His first action was to charge south into Crna Gora and kill the army still trying to pass into Hvosno. This eliminated 200 or so troops, but left his capital open. The army then doubled-back just in time to fend off an assault by the entirety of Mutimir's army.

WjDOdWC.png

EjKsckB.png

MUNL1W4.png

To say the least, the battle rested on the strength of the Breton Band's generals. Thankfully, the battle almost single-handedly won the war and let Hvalimir's mother take the crown out of Mutimir's hands.

HMx5TMY.png

Only one small problem remained.

Wq5Fsys.png

Mutimir created Zahumlje merely a year or two before the war. No matter; once Hvalimir's mother died, he would gain enough land to be able to swear fealty to Balgariya and begin uniting Serbia under true Serbian rule rather than this mis-mash of invading kingdoms and empires. Thankfully, his mother made a few enemies as a result of her forceful appointment.

l38MpzS.png

Not that that mattered; his mother was a pig. Only downside is that this fool wound up in control of Hvosno:

WxP0HoQ.png

Well, Hvalimir doesn't have time to try and coerce the title out of his hands; it must be stripped with threat of force. Thankfully, the threat alone proved to be enough.

IfE1vN3.jpg

Cucimir came of age before being promptly married off to some random Karling. With any luck, he should be able to produce an heir more worthy to him than he is to Hvalimir.

yWwWkl2.png

And with good timing, too. Hvalimir slowly lost his ability to cope with this perpetual-risk ruling style, and began to fall apart. Between the Byzantines and Bulgarians, Hvalimir risked losing it all.

uGsnczX.png

With his third child, Hvalimir was risking even more than ever for his bold endeavor. And, on October 3, 876, he made his riskiest move of all.

uzP8yN9.png

He surrendered his independence for the hope of gaining even more.

3. A Bulgarian Adventure

...where did I leave off last time? Right, right; it was when Hvalimir surrendered his independence to the Knyaz of Balgariya to avert Byzantine conquest. Now, Hvalimir didn't want to simply hand over his dreams and give up over fears of foreign conquest. No, Hvalimir had a plan. You see, much of Serbia already belonged to the Tsar, and a war against a king of that might would prove futile. The vassals, though, held virtually no power. Hvalimir, though, needed claims, and he had no single children old enough to marry for claims. This left him with the painstaking necessity of fabricating claims on those around him. This took time.

Much time.

While he waited, Hvalimir decided to ensure that the Belojevic dynasty would last for quite a while.

q4dBVpP.png

He decided, in this trying time, to focus more on gaining advantages in other realms instead of simply sitting in his own and ruling what little he had. He first began seeking power over Prince Vladimir, the oldest son of Boris and the controller of Viden.

eAEMoKe.png

Sure enough, Prince Vladimir had a dark side. He was plotting the murder some baron on the whims of his mother.

VCE7eMB.png

This became public knowledge immediately. Following that, another Belojevic entered the world.

XTR1NXg.png

A daughter, at least, would prevent further subdividing of the realm. Hvalimir decided to give up on spying on Vladimir and decided, instead, to spy on the 4th son of Boris, Simeon. Boris, rather strangely, made Hvalimir Chancellor. Considering that Hvalimir was not particularly good with words (not to mention a foreigner), this was an odd move by Boris. Hvalimir had no luck with Simeon either, so he decided to work on Boris himself. During this time, Hvalimir's plan to murder his cousin was discovered; not that it mattered much, since Prvoslav had little in options to retaliate.

6iBXLfv.png

In the meantime, Cucimir had a son of his own.

WxWoSPT.png

Hvalimir decided, since Boris remained a stunning image of perfection, to tarnish his good name with a vile rumor.
7K59MAj.png

But this did little. Hvalimir eventually gave up and just started spying on random counts throughout Balgariya in the hopes of simply passing enough time as he fabricated claims elsewhere.

8dmq4Xk.png

4feXlPO.png

Sadly, no luck in capturing the count whose sexual adventures drove mad. At least one conspiracy worked out, though.

L2feOpt.png

With Prvoslav dead, Zahumlje fell into a regency that would last for 9 years. At the same time, Boris made a tactical error.

U321elX.png

He lost his entire army just to try and help an ally. This seemed to have led his own son to speak ill of him...

DrwAz7C.png

CD3PxLw.png

While not an arrest, this at least hurt his relations with his father. Meanwhile, Cucimir had yet another child; a daughter, this time.

JpVPvlC.png

Following this, a revolt broke out over the waning power of Boris.

xMgXUIq.png

Finally, an opportunity arose to deal with Vladimir once and for all.

lxYKf8b.png

And a fallback, just in case.

erUNzWY.png

zhSr44L.png

In a desperate attempt to escape, he tumbled off of the balcony of Hvalimir's castle and wound up dead ((evidently, the "kidnap" event triggered before the "murder" event, but didn't stop the latter from triggering. Oh well)). This opened up many options for Hvalimir to expand Serbia without worry of Bulgarian interference.

yQ7cH9O.png

A third son meant greater gains abroad, albeit with the annoyance of each son inheriting a chunk of land. Unfortunately, though, Miroslav died due to disease before even lasting a year. Cucimir had another child- Nikodim.

However, Hvalimir botched the murder of Boris's brother, revealing his actions against the Tsar. Thankfully, Boris did not care much over this transgression, for he was too busy fighting some holy war against some nomads. The war, though, cost him his life. This, combined with his grandson Boris converting to a heretic faith, lead to a wonderful circumstance.

0m3215V.jpg

A rather brief window to expand northwards.

78zKGuC.jpg

sejoLmL.png

The heretics didn't stand a chance. Upon the eve of victory, Hvalimir decided to change the succession policy to Seniority to prevent fracturing as he created the title of Macva. He also gave up on his attempts at being sneaky and went back to trying to properly administrate his realm. After a year or two of waiting, following the earlier decade of waiting, the letter Hvalimir wanted to see finally arrived.

lhAm6do.png

The war did not take long to win; though it did not give Hvalimir the duchy, it did give him a greater footing in Serbia proper. Cucimir was granted rule of Travunija and Polimlje while Hvalimir retained rule of the rest of his holdings.

htvhf05.png

A strategic murder by Hvalimir ensured that the exit from Balgariya would be easy. At the same time, he dealt with a truce that he still had with Mutimir II. Unable to conquer, he went for a different option.

si30FbK.png

He had no truce with Bran, the claimant. However, that would have to wait until the next generation. No ambition can escape death.

nU1N65i.png

No matter how strong.

4. From Vassal to King

Last time, I left off... Right, when Hvalimir died and Cucimir took control of his territory. He, back when he held Travunija, did manage to fabricate a claim on Podgorje. While he couldn't take on the Banate of Hrvatska alone, he did still hold alliances with the Karlings. First, though; Cucimir had to plan his exit from Balgariya. Besides marrying a few relatives off and doing general realm management, Cucimir also spied on the most powerful vassal of the Tsar: Gavril.

jVrpI30.png

T0sX7qn.png

In the meantime, Hrvatska was stuck helping an ally in Italy. This left the Banate vulnerable to attack.

u6J2A9U.jpg

eoVmUq3.png

Their center buckled...

HtCViAj.png

Then broke. From there, Cucimir went about with the band of soldiers and mercenaries, trying to find the remainder of the Hrvatskan army.

jhYRFIT.png

Unfortunately for Cucimir, his health took a turn for the worse. He pushed on to win the war against Hrvatska, despite his ailing health.

ZiJaU6W.png

Once he took a rest, he rested for good. Kosmin took over and started by usurping Zamulje, vassalizing those who held his family as vassals several years before.

pDGpFMc.png

Kosmin, however, found himself incredibly ill following this. With luck, though, he overcame the awful illness and lived on. With newfound energy, he revoked Podrinje and send his armies south into Crna Gora, finalizing all possible gains from within the Kingdom of Balgariya. From there, he merely needed a way out. Balgariya had way too many troops to consider going against in a lone independence revolt.

VbO2lER.png

Kosmin decided, then, to blackmail the rest of the kingdom into his faction.

AvRxask.png

Tried to, anyway. Not that it mattered much to Kosmin.

YcD1U8V.png

He did come to regret his earlier decision. A quick ransom netted Kosmin quite a full coffer, which would prove useful later.

WBzxaJK.png

Kosmin doubled down, making sure that the message stuck with Gavril until the end of his days- do not laugh in the face of a Belojevic. Still, Kosmin needed enough support to overthrow the Tsar.

7jMhCMS.png

But he had other plans. Thankfully, the Tsar found himself in another rebellion while trying to consolidate power; both this and the first seemed fruitless for those against him. Kosmin decided to exploit the circumstance and strike.

0hlCap4.jpg

Some clever military maneuvering left Kosmin on the defensive while Kresimir fought uphill and downstream.

9TPSC4Z.jpg

Sadly, it wasn't just Kosmin exploiting circumstance- a small rebellion broke out in Raška.

D28OG3S.png

Not that it mattered.

Nir3upM.png

j8CEfwF.png

That netted independence, but what about the kingdom? Sadly, Kosmin spent all of his coffers on mercenaries; the kingdom had to wait.

Thankfully, the Byzantines remained distracted with a civil war.

OngADTx.png

He promptly rearranged a few laws to ensure a more stable realm. He then promptly rearranged some structural pieces under a balcony.

bX624R6.png

After all, Kosmin needed to ensure Srbija's survival. The Byzantines stood right in the face of that.

Well, did.

6. Battle of Crowns

So, Kosmin became King, and the Byzantines entered years of turmoil. By some annoying circumstance, the current Basileus, Basileios, married into the Arpád royal family and secured alliance with Magyarország.

9YxTjPW.png

Kosmin started to fear whether he'd hurt the Byzantines too much; the Abbâsiyúns still held significant power.

Bo7Wkdy.png

Then again, the Abbâsiyúns were also much farther away... though that might change very soon under the rule of the new Basileus, Athanasios.

aGxCXOX.png

Seeing the weakness, Kosmin struck once more, this time in an attempt to take the one slice of Srbija that the Byzantines still held. This war proved rather insignificant, due to the ease of which Kosmin took the land and the ineffective resistance put up from Athanasios. After leaving such a trail of bodies in his wake, Kosmin decided to leave one more.

RQt8feR.png

Unfortunately for Srbija, Nikodim ruled by a much different standard than most. While mostly rumors, it is said that Nikodim would wander the halls at night, seemingly talking with someone. Whenever anyone would take a look to see who he was talking to, there was no one else there. It is said that one courtier was caught taking a peek at Nikodim during one of these nights; his eyes were seen floating in the garden fountain the next morning. No one found the courtier.

KdnNT9W.png

Nikodim had Srbija's closest ally murdered, albeit one who held claims on all of Srbija. Nikodim then stole Macva from one vassal, and killed the other.

08HKvSG.png

Of course, with the internal issues resolved, Nikodim decided to... well, no one is certain as to his reasoning, but he suddenly swore fealty to Athanasios. Only later do we know that this was because, according to those around him, he became obsessed with trying to become the "True Roman," as he put it.

t8CYqsn.png

Unfortunately, Kosmin's meddling with the Empire created some issues. For instance, it was slowly but certainly converting to Miaphysite. The realm continued to stabilize as Strategos after Strategos converted.

9rCHXYl.png

Evidently, Nikodim still made for a good diplomat. This, however, was Athanasios's mistake. He put Nikodim too close to vital paperwork, and this let Nikodim assert his own authority as the so-called "True Roman." But first, he had to ensure that, should Athanasios die, that his heir would not undo all of Nikodim's work.

Liaze4T.png

With that done, Nikodim went to ensure that he had documents proving that he could even hold the title of Basileus.

skjrxuu.png

With that done, Nikodim simply needed an opportunity. Sadly, his plot for murdering Athanasios went south as each member backing the plot walked away, apparently content with their arbitrary, inbred ruler.

avSM5Cr.png

Indeed, whatever has taken a hold of Nikodim got far, far worse. Still, Nikodim needed to take the land that he so longed. Rather than waiting any longer, he created an opportunity.

LWWbaGl.png

ieE7igZ.png

To say the least, his replacement did not stand a chance at retaining the title. Almost immediately, a war over Elective Monarchy broke out. Nikodim waited just a little, to let her forces to be diverted, before sending his own troops straight through to Constantinople.

GKmksEL.jpg

MzD0PqG.png

Oix7Ake.jpg

Nikodim managed to obtain the Empire, but whether he could hold it was far less certain.

An interesting turn of events, although you probably want to avoid switching into an elective monarchy.

7. The Bampoúlas

So, Nikodim managed to conquer an Empire. Well, he took the crown; everyone seemed keen on seeing him dead than in power. So, he asserted his power by throwing out the former Empress.

h8SMICT.png

From there, the armies clashed.

CEDTjFm.png

And Nikodim came out victorious.

ZQDmP5F.png

Now, the Empire that Nikodim conquered, Rimsko Carstvo, fell into distress well before he conquered it. This included giving full power to each vassal, removing the Emperor's ability to do anything. No one would dare give Nikodim or any other Serb more power, so he had to take it by force. He started this by imprisoning every single vassal that he could.

During this, Nikodim decided to undo everything Kosmin worked for.

csYUlJ9.png

After that, he proceed to imprison every single landholder in the realm. All of them. I'd bore you with the details, but trust me when I say that it was comprehensive. In order to pass the crown law, the empire required the approval of half of its vassals that were able to actually vote.

gi9IY02.png

He held 41 votes; the remainder of his realm held around 350. Prisoners couldn't vote. From there, Nikodim revoked every single title that he could think of, and then some. He couldn't revoke all of them due to truces, but he revoked what he could. While we Serbs regard Nikodim as something of an odd ruler, what with the sudden move to Konstantinopolj and all, the Greeks... well, they regard him as almost a sort of Bogeyman, or Bampoúlas.
He went around, kidnapping rulers and their children, sending them to jail against their wishes; when they resisted, he crushed their armies and sent them away anyway. He then stole the land from beneath their feet, undoing centuries of Roman rule. All done in 14 years. Once the realm's order was restored...

Wwub678.png

A fool decided to declare war, hopelessly outnumbered.

toVZ5HY.png

Evidently, some realms outside of Rimsko sent letters declaring war before Nikodim fully distributed titles to the interiors of his Carstvo that arrived after. No one can imagine the shock that she faced when, sitting in her castle, an army of 30000 soldiers came barging on her door. It goes without saying that these wars were won. From there, Nikodim finally vacated the Carstvo, once and for all.

SyqrbcO.png

Only time could kill such a madman. Thankfully, Vukoman ruled much less violently.

Did you literally revoke all the titles? And now you are in a regency, with stupendous penalties....

I kind of forgot to mention that he actually gave all of the titles out before those two wars, hence the AI not knowing what the hell was going on with his levy total. But yes, I revoked all the titles. I edited in a few words to make it more clear.

8. The Reign of Vukoman Belojevic

Vukoman inherited a very powerful empir, but lacked the age to actually rule it. His half-brother, Boleslav, took over as reagent, from which he ruled efficiently. Nikodim's administrative plan (raid the Serbian countryside, find as many Serbian males, and distribute land to them all) proved effective at quelling most dissenting opinions.

One day, Vukoman was wondering through the castle of Konstantinopolj. Eventually, he found his way to the dungeons, where his father's political prisoners sat in squalor. Seeing no reason to keep so many, he ransomed off those of foreign courts and released the rest who held no ties to the former land squabble of his father. This left a little over 70 prisoners.

During this time, Vukoman realized that his father put him in a rather unique opportunity. You see, most of Rimsko Carstvo still saw Vukoman as a "Roman Emperor," despite the fact that he was anything but. The whole world saw him this way. As a result, he held great sway in the expansions of his lands; legality didn't apply the same way to him as it did to other rulers. Vukoman saw this as a chance to spread Serbia beyond Serbia, under the guise of a Roman resurgence. Instead of creating a reunified Roman state, he decided to instead create a brand-new Serbian state that ruled the Roman lands of old, not abiding by the Roman legacy but the Serbian. He wrote all of this down in his Right of Serbian Rome, or Право на српском Рима/Pravo na srpskom Rima ((I don't actually speak Serbian, so if this is wrong, someone please correct me)). This manifest gave way towards all the future Serbian conquests that eventually unified all of the Serbian Empire, giving right to might and a plan of action to great ambition. His reagent, Boleslav, likely took part in its writing. Vukoman didn't actually utilize his claimed rights until after he came of age to rule all his own.

On June 25, 954, Vukoman finally earned himself the right to rule.
jYGHkUG.png

His first action, of course, was to find a suitable bride. Like his predecessors, he picked a Karling.

9O7E9b1.png

With that settled, he declared war on the Kingdom of Balgariya over some lands in Arbanon.

ptIdBLk.png

xMmSeWR.png

It didn't take very much to win. Following the war, good fortune struck Vukoman.

N9q2HiR.png

IrOz1sc.png

An heir! Female, sure, but still, an heir. A few years passed, during which a grand tournament and another child came to be. Vukoman decided to duel a distant rival.

k6biaIz.png

At the least, he did survive. Unfortunately, he did lose a bit of pride. So, he decided to regain it by conquering some land owned by the Narentine Pirates.

Ki7apOY.png

In particular, it was their mainland-side holding of Omis. This war was won swiftly with the combined might of the Serbian armies. With luck, though, Vukoman did finally have a male heir.

KhuUUCD.png

Short in stature, sure, but sufficient. From there, many years passed without a war. Boleslav, his brother and former reagent, died. He had a few children, and quashed a peasant revolt. He then wanted to further decimate the Tsars of Balgariya, but faced a problem:

MB4xgM5.png

This was easily resolved.

bWxLeBW.png

With that taken care of, Vukoman obliterated the military of Balgariya and annexed the last slice of Albania.

Unc6I02.png

Now, I don't remember all of the wars that he did wage, but he did wage quite a few. Salerno, Bosna, more against Balgariya, one against a revolting duke in Bosna... the list goes on. Vukoman's reign would see the acquisition of almost the entirety of the Balkans and most of Sicilia. At the same time, it did see many other interesting events.

9YNOBAq.png

Abyssina, for example, formed. With luck, they would make great allies against the Abbâsiyúns. Meanwhile, a few executed kings in the Kingdom of Bosna led to an interesting inheritance:

NRqVPfc.jpg

Other than that, not much else happened in those years... well, there was one noteworthy event.

Um8Rtll.png

He suffered a massive revolt by his vassals, which he was trying to quell for years before war broke out.

8RMrfK0.jpg

After putting down an almost concurrent peasant revolt, Vukoman went off to face these new foes in battle.

HefRauO.jpg

NBh9YP7.jpg

zPTgx4d.png

With the rebellion put down, Vukoman came up with a clever strategy to prevent any further actions against him. He unified most of the Teme that he revoked from the dissenters, and created a far more unified Carstvo.

KDY5i3N.jpg

He then declared war of reconquest against those who held the Patriarch of Antioch, in an attempt to restore some religious authority of the Orthodox church.

pKoMlaX.png

He expected a full-out holy war against the Sunnis to the south. Instead, he faced little resistance.

SqqFiK7.png

No matter; he accomplished the restoration of the Patriarchate, and that was that.

p2uXloT.png

Following that, he proceeded to conquer a few more lands before restructuring a bit more.

flx8cN6.jpg

He even went so far as to go up against the Karlings to the west, who owned practically all of Western Europe.

nIHLLsQ.png

Even the Pope was a Karling. He continued to take southern Italy, though he wasn't the only conquerer anymore...

r2AL1Op.png

Eventually, Vukoman's health began to wane.

g5U4Oud.png

q5DpzCL.png

At 46, he left for good.

Serapion inherited, and took more after his grandfather than his father.
