"Thank you, mister Robada, mister Rashaad. Smells like a good tea to me. I can only appologise for my colleague. It is said he's been a bit on the edge, lately. And just between you and me, mister Rashaad, I don't really care wether you sell softdrugs or not, or what kind of lovely incense you burn. But I can't really say that in public, being the minister of healthcare".

Lamont turns down the music and steps up to the mic.

I've got an announcement to make. As you all may or may not know, I am of Topan ancestry. I feel we are quickly losing our vibrancy and strength as a people. In hopes of amending this, I have started the Six Kingdoms Movement. I'm planning a festival soon, and am in need of donations. So please, if you can spare any money, we could really use it. It's for a good cause. Thankyou everyone.

Lamont has been preparing the builiding for quite awhile, moving chairs and tables around, setting up his vintage tonemaster tube amp, and akwardly tooling with the new PA system replete with esoteric lights and dials he will never understand. He has prepared a projector with a transparent glass plate filled with oil paints and water being swashed around casting colorful psychedelic abstract shapes and images on the wall. All the things in order, he discreetly puts a hit of the sunshine acid under his tongue and instructs Shatki, the Morroccan tribal drummer to the stage and a new acquaintance who is an avant garde violinst. Mr. Rashaad straps a beat up fender telecaster round his neck and steps before the mic. He begins singing the song in a street wise sing talk poetry style.

I don't know just where I'm going
But I'm gonna try for the kingdom, if I can
'Cause it makes me feel like I'm a man
When I put a spike into my vein
And I'll tell ya, things aren't quite the same
When I'm rushing on my run
And I feel just like Jesus' son
And I guess that I just don't know
And I guess that I just don't know

I have made the big decision
I'm gonna try to nullify my life
'Cause when the blood begins to flow
When it shoots up the dropper's neck
When I'm closing in on death
And you can't help me now, you guys
And all you sweet girls with all your sweet talk
You can all go take a walk
And I guess that I just don't know
And I guess that I just don't know

I wish that I was born a thousand years ago
I wish that I'd sail the darkened seas
On a great big clipper ship
Going from this land here to that
In a sailor's suit and cap
Away from the big city
Where a man can not be free
Of all of the evils of this town
And of himself, and those around
Oh, and I guess that I just don't know
Oh, and I guess that I just don't know

Heroin, be the death of me

Heroin, it's my wife and it's my life

Because a mainer to my vein
Leads to a center in my head
And then I'm better off and dead
Because when the smack begins to flow
I really don't care anymore
About all the Jim-Jim's in this town
And all the politicians makin' crazy sounds
And everybody puttin' everybody else down
And all the dead bodies piled up in mounds

'Cause when the smack begins to flow
Then I really don't care anymore
Ah, when the heroin is in my blood
And that blood is in my head
Then thank God that I'm as good as dead
Then thank your God that I'm not aware
And thank God that I just don't care
And I guess I just don't know
And I guess I just don't know

Lamont's pupils have by now annexed the territory generally reserved for the iris. He walks out of the building and gets in his car, and leaves the city driving aimlessly for hours.

Lamont Rashaad, the Weatherman, sensing his new position will deprive him of his infamous performances, decides to play a last show. He summons a hipster with a beret and sunglasses to play stand up bass, and takes the stage with his guitar and starts the song

Johnny's in the basement
Mixing up the medicine
I'm on the pavement
Thinking about the government
The man in the trench coat
Badge out, laid off
Says he's got a bad cough
Wants to get it paid off
Look out kid
It's somethin' you did
God knows when
But you're doin' it again
You better duck down the alley way
Lookin' for a new friend
The man in the coon-skin cap
In the big pen
Wants eleven dollar bills
You only got ten

Maggie comes fleet foot
Face full of black soot
Talkin' that the heat put
Plants in the bed but
The phone's tapped anyway
Maggie says that many say
They must bust in early May
Orders from the D. A.
Look out kid
Don't matter what you did
Walk on your tip toes
Don't try "No Doz"
Better stay away from those
That carry around a fire hose
Keep a clean nose
Watch the plain clothes
You don't need a weather man
To know which way the wind blows

Get sick, get well
Hang around a ink well
Ring bell, hard to tell
If anything is goin' to sell
Try hard, get barred
Get back, write braille
Get jailed, jump bail
Join the army, if you fail
Look out kid
You're gonna get hit
But users, cheaters
Six-time losers
Hang around the theaters
Girl by the whirlpool
Lookin' for a new fool
Don't follow leaders
Watch the parkin' meters

Ah get born, keep warm
Short pants, romance, learn to dance
Get dressed, get blessed
Try to be a success
Please her, please him, buy gifts
Don't steal, don't lift
Twenty years of schoolin'
And they put you on the day shift
Look out kid
They keep it all hid
Better jump down a manhole
Light yourself a candle
Don't wear sandals
Try to avoid the scandals
Don't wanna be a bum
You better chew gum
The pump don't work
'Cause the vandals took the handles

He cracks open a popper and takes a big whiff. The Weatherman has a bad heart. He suffers from angina pectoris. But don't worry. We have a cure. He retreats to his private quarters upstairs for a night of hedonism and decadence.

Lamont returns to the bottom floor wearing a smoking jacket and a top hat with colorful feathers. He's drinking some Ken Kesey style Kool Aid and smoking through a cigarrette holder. The Weatherman sits at the table with Johnny Black.

Enjoying yourself Mr. Black? Care for any Kool Aid? You're a true legend man. You really got your boots on. You know I've got the money to put on Topafest now, but there remains the issue of putting on a good lineup of speakers and peformers. We'd all be honored to have you make an appearance. What you say?

Lamont Rashaad opens up the Beatnik. He walks in with the new issue of the "Eutopian Worker," hot off the press, eager to investigate its contents. Lamont pours himself a cup of coffee and sits behind the counter. "Good to see the people still have a voice," he thinks to himself. Rashaad is sick of the exile from political activity and is eager to get some work done when the GA is back together. He reads his newspaper, hoping desperately that someone will wander in.

Cornelius Dank enters the building.

Good to see you comrade Rashaad. I was wondering if you'd like to join me for a meeting of minds in the Hammer and Sickle backroom?
