WELCOME TO THE BEATNIK TURTLE


Have a cup of coffee, listen to some groovy tunes, talk about the weather... Have a drink, have a smoke, talk some jive, hear some poetry. The ceremony is about to begin!

The young Lamont Rashaad has just recently graduated from ENU with a major in psycho analytic psychology and philosophy. Using all of the inheritance from his father who was tragically run over by a school bus, Lamont has bought a small coffee house where he hopes to entertain the hip and elite. The air is thick with the scent of wierd incense and opium, and a Warhol piece hangs prominently on a wall. Some strange psychedelic jazz music with no particular form is playing in the background, with occasionally the hum buzz of some exotic Indian instrument being heard. A haven for bohemians and anarchists of all persuasions, he calls it the BEATNIK TURTLE.

Alexis Keller walks in, and looks around. She's possitively surprised with the slight psychodelic athmosphere. She walks around for a moment before the approaches the owner.

"Mister Rashaad, I must say I like your place. I haven't been in such a pub since I came to Eutopia, and I must say, it feels like home. And an althernative breeze through the nightlife won't be a bad thing".

Then she spotted a farmiliar face.

"Mister Sergei, I must admit I'm a bit surprised finding you in this kind of establishment".

After a long day in the Pit Captain Tulp was driving to his quarters when his car broke dow. He stepped out and walked to the nearest Pub which happened to be the Beatnik.

When he enters the Beatnik Captain Tulp was overwhelmed. This wasn't exactly his cup of thea.

"Allright Barkeeper do you have Amstel? And can I use your ph--" Then he saw the President and he saluted correctly.

"Mr. President sir."

Loic de Fourgéres, Minister of Infrastructure and Domestic Affairs, enters, notices the scent of opium, leaves, and returns with two Federal Law Enforcement officers. EDIT : He asks for the owner or manager. When that individual appears, Loic says:

"I noticed the scent of opium, and I don't mean the perfume. That is drug that can only be dispensed by a doctor's prescription here, and this doesn't look like a pharmacy. Drug trafficking is a Federal matter here in Eutopia. Unless you want to claim that some customer just walked in here, pulled out some opium and began smoking it, I would advise you to remain silent. You are under arrest. Please cooperate with the agent as he puts the handcuffs on you, as it will not hurt that way. We will interview the customers and any staff, and get a search warrant to search the premises, unless you want to authorize a search yourself. Some of my colleagues will take you downtown for some paperwork. Another one will stay here to make sure no one tampers with the evidence. If you want to have an employee remain here to observe the observing, feel free to do so. If the search warrant is not immediately forthcoming, if you surrender your passport and agree not to leave the city, we will then release you on your own recognizance."

Come back with a warrant. You have no proof. The flowery scent you recognized as opium could just as easily be dragon blood incense. You can't just come in here with two officers, arrest me, and ransack the place based on something you smell. I have rights. You nazi bastards have no appreciation for art. You'll use any excuse you can find to shut us down. This is totally unlawfull search and seizure. I'll go quietly, but put it on record that I agreed to nothing, that I asked you leave, and that I protest every measure you've taken thus far to harm me and my business.

Loic EDIT: calls the Federal Authorities under his jurisdiction and has the following conversation:

"So no charge of selling, but possibly possession or possession with intent to sell, depending on the quantity, if any. I guess we will have to wait for the search warrant. Have a rotation of plain clothes officers assigned so there is always one here until then. As they are taking up space, they should order a coffee or tea occasionally, which is a re-imbursable expense. I can't authorize hazardous duty pay for having to listen to weird poetry though, so don't let any one stay here too long."
