This is chapter one of the promised guide to BB-points.

It was created using primarily EU II 1.05 and the excellent EU-reader by Jos Theelen

It is not complete at this moment but I will try to get the rest done tomorrow but here is an apetizer...

DOW = Declaration of WAR
same = same religion as country
other = Other Religion than country
CB = Casus Belli
NOCB = No casus belli
RM = Royal Marriage

DOW same noCB RM
= 4

DOW same noCB
= 4

DOW same CB RM
= 1

DOW same CB
= 1

DOW other noCB
= 4

DOW other CB
= 1

DOW PAGAN
= 0

DOW same vassal
= 2

DOW Truce
= 4

1 province recieved in peace in offensive war with CB
= 0

1 province recieved in peace in offensive war without CB
= 2

Military annexation same
= 6

Military annexation other
= 6

What I need to do is to make the same vallues for the defensive wars and to check if the values apply outside europe as I used an old save I had with France.

Since I don't play RotW countries I would kindly ask someone to check their games to see if the values stay the same.

Comments and corrections would be appreciated! :)

(only kind ones of course:D)

Nice work kurtbrian, you've delivered on what you volunteered to do!

One question: are the values for DOW vassal, and DOW truce added to the value determined by religion and CB?

So, does breaking a truce against someone you don't have a CB against give you 4+4=8? :eek:

Good work Kurtbrian!

One correction or additional case:

When Castille annexes Granada, it gets much less than 6 BB points. (One or two, if any.) There may be a special case for "Military annexation other" with CB shield.

Keep it up!

Annexing a country of another religion only gives 1BB.

Start as Turkey and annex the Duchy of Athens to test.

U have to beware though, same religion is defined quite tricky. All christians are considered same religion. But try muslim on christian and vice versa and it's 1.

It's 4 BB for annexing same religion + 2BB for every province. Thus, it would seem like six, but it's really the compilation of two things.

It could be five, if it is a defensive war. Very good that this is getting done! But beware, there are quite a few variables - I think some need to be reduced in terms of your starting point. Like annex vs. the actual BB from the province 4 + 1 or 2 depending...

Yes. How many you get, I'm not sure. But just 10 minutes ago I was playing France, diplo-annexed Auvergne and Bourbannais within a year of each other, and promptly saw my reputation go from Respectable to Tarnished. That would imply that it's at least +3 (since Resp. is 1-4 and Tarn. is 9-12), but without knowing the exact number before and after, who knows?

As a suggestion for an addition, how about actions that reduce your badboy? For example, creating a vassal from provinces you own. I think I saw someone post that you lost 1 BB pt. for this, but I'm not certain.

I've seen it stated multiple times that you lose 1 BB for each province you lose - whether from releasing a vassal, seceding due to event, or losing in war. I've not tested it specifically, though, and if I managed to lose provinces in war to the AI, I certainly wouldn't admit it.

You do lose 1 BB every 8 years on Very Hard, 1 every 4 on other difficulty settings. ISTR seeing a post saying that this doesn't hold true if you're at war, though, again, I've not tested it.

Of course, now I think of something else:

If you don't get any BB pts. for receiving one province in an offensive war with a country you had a CB against, do you get any for receiving one province from allies of that country with whom you made a separate peace? So if I have a CB against Bavaria, and they are allied with Austria, and I declare war and eventually receive Ostmarch from Austria by signing a separate peace treaty, do I get any BB? If not, it seems like you could considerably expand in one war without getting any BB just by signing separate peaces. This could alter my strategy a bit ... ;)

Furthermore, what about provinces you "award" to your allies after a war? Do they count against your BB? Basically, what I'm asking is in the above example, if I were allied with Helvetia, and after the peace neg. with Austria I received Ostmarch and Helvetia received Tirol, would I get no BB, the BB appropriate for getting 1 prov., or the BB appropriate for getting 2?

Hope I'm not coming off critical in my posts ... this info is much appreciated, and it must be awful tedious work compiling it. Great work so far, keep it coming! Something tells me the final Handbook will read like the rules to an Avalon Hill board game! :D
