Judge, here is a beer. Your AAR is wonderful, very detailed and lovingly crafted. I am speaking of your Teutonic Order one of course, your latest and greatest effort so far. The characters are vibrant and living beings that we can all either love or hate as we wish. But they are fully fleshed three dimensional people and not caricatures. That is what makes your story so much fun to read. The attention to the little things is great! The lust, the savagery, the ambitions of Miss Hoover, the seemingly blinded by lust Judge in the story...so many things. I do highly recommend it to everyone. It is a masterpiece. And I do not say such things lightly.

beers more people and starts replacing a keg that is tapped out. Goes to the back to install a new keg to replace the one that is empty. But before I go, I make sure MAlexander06 and Anibal have their sodas...and the lime for Anibal.

LD! I don't suppose on Saturday we could watch the Notre Dame game? They are playing Purdue and they must win this one or their season is pretty much trashed.

Anibal enters the bAAR.

Amric! Dutch beer! Now!

He takes the beer and drinks a bit.

Yes... I just updated my Dutch Incumbence AAR! Three weeks without updates, but now a new and fresh one! Go there and read it, people! And you'll see that Austria isn't the only huge white blob of the world...

Sits down.

I also just wrote the bio for my Free Company character. I hope I did a good job writing it and, more important, hope that the FC crew have a good time writing together!

Quietly, Anibal finishes his dutch beer, and waits for someone to come after him...

”Thanks for your kind words Amric, really appreciate that”. Judge orders a cup of coffee since it is early on a Saturday morning. “Mm, you have managed to get some more members to vote I see, good work. Still hope you will win but Heagarty has a huge lead with 46 % of the votes.

However a silver medal could be within reach so I hope some people out there will do as I did and vote for your excellent AAR”. Judge places a printed version on a table close to the plasma TV.

Too late, I already voted for the Gluttonic Knights!

And this week my personal pick for AAR Well Worth Reading is that terrific example of well-written history style, Ayutthaya: March of the Elephant. It is immensely entertaining and succeeds in doing that one thing which tells you it's a good AAR: it makes me want to play as Ayutthaya.

That's my rule of a good AAR: If it makes you want to play that country, it's a good one. And merrick is doing a terrific job...check it out!

Hajji Giray sits and waits for the Free Company to come and take him away

Turns the tv to something other than the now over Notre Dame game. They lost. It was embarrassing. Serves more beer, even German beer with brandy from Britain.

Drink up folks! The next Free Company book is soon to make it's appearance! The fun and games will soon begin. And the best interactive story will continue on with some old and new writers. The tale of the best mercenary company in Europe will thrill and chill you.

Accepting a drink from Amric, Redwolf said," Aye Amric, once the next Book of the Free Company starts, I am sure we will have a great time. I only wish it starts now. The wait is getting unbearable."

Shouting to LD across the table," Hey LD, can we get the Book going already? or do you enjoy seeing me in a miserable mood waiting for the next Book to start?" :D

TreizeV, thanks for the german beer. With a hint of british handy!:D Well, you know that I meant german when I told dutch, since I already have a nice portion of germany!

By the way, congratulations for the showcase! I must admit I didn't have time to read your tale but, if LD has chosen it, this is a strong sign of success from yours. Congrats man!

He finishes his dutch one and starts to drink the german one.

Redwolf, please don't urge LD to get it going soon! Let us take our times, let him take his time and, when he's ready, we start contributing. Let's do it carefully, not desperately!

He quietly finishes his german beer, whilst watches the other people talking.

" Only 8 votes for Amric's Imperial Eagle? Come on people, get with the program and start voting for that fine AAR."

Wearing a simple NY Giants cap on his head, he strolled in and took a seat at the bar.

"I am in the process of trying to create a character for which to write with in the Free company, just waiting for some suggestions from LD and so on. Also, I have finally updated my Hungary AAR. I am sorry for screen shots, but my computer keeps deleting them. Something with the EEP files.. not sure what."

A stranger slips nervously into the BAAR, as if expecting to be challenged and thrown out on the spot
Realising that no-one's paying any attention, he squares his shoulders and heads across the room

"I think I owe someone a drink"

Hoping he's got the right person, he sits down next to Hajji Giray

"For remembering my AAR to the patrons here. What's your poison?"

Without waiting for the reply he calls across to the bar
"Scrumpy cider and whatever this gentleman's drinking! And have one for yourself, LD!"

Stroph enters the bAAR. He waves Amric over.

"Barkeep, here is my credit card. Please arrange for HolisticGod
to get free drinks for a month."

"Heavens, Stroph. Why on Earth would you do that?"

"I had been considering putting up his Hitchhiker's Guide for an OscAAR. Then he restarted it. Policy has been to not nominate ongoing tales. I hated to pull it back. I will renominate it at a later date."

heagarty would be a bit taken back by all the pleas for votes against his "Gluttonic Knights" AAR, if Amric and Harvard weren't such dedicated members of the Forum and hadn't, indeed, written deserving AARs. But the prodigal veteran was very appreciative of all the votes he had received so far and knew that the others would eventually be recognized for their works, especially someone as prolific (um, as a writer, that is :D) as Amric.

"I think I've finally gotten the hang of this latest patch...it's only taken a couple of months. ," heagarty said, "So I can start thinking about a new project once some potential collaborators wrap up."

"I'm also interested in seeing how Book VI of the FC develops. I'd really prefer to stay in the background until I can get a feel for the flow of the story, but I'm looking forward to being able to put my little bit into it."

Thank you heagarty. You really ought to just jump in to the FC. The start of the book is the best time to start in with the FC. Being the start up there is time to interact with the other writers/characters and forge friendships and such. But the choice is yours, of course. The new patch is kind of fun, but it does take some time to get used to. I went from 1.00 to 1.07 with latest beta. A HUGE difference in play, I agree.

But well worth it in my opinion. My Chimu, Strassburg, and my current one are all with the latest patch.

Gives out the various drink orders that have been pouring in. Then returns to polishing the bar with the dirty rag<tm>...

"Whew.. I missed the deadline for the eastern coast by two hours, but if you are living on the west coast of America I fulfilled my promise and finally finished a new update for my HungAARy tale. I personally think this update came out fairly well. Anyway.. Can I have a beer, perhaps a Killians?"

He sat down at the bar, nodding to Amric and placing a few coins upon the well worn wood. An old Prussian helmet was on his head, since he liked the way it looked after having read the Iron and Blood AoN prussian AAR.

Director comes in, wipes his brow with his handkerchief and steps up to the bar.

"Bacardi 8 and coke, Amric - light on the ice and dark in the glass, please..."

"I just finished a major rant over at LD's place. Of course, I was laughing all the way through it. Sometimes I just like to stir people up."

"So, heagarty, you're thinking about the Free Company too? I promised LD I'd consider it and I'm trying to read up on the background. But if you're game for a collaboration, count me in."

He wanders over to a table and sprawls in a chair, cooling down. THen he spreads open his notes and tries to make some sense of the mess in Wallachia.

"Oh, heagarty! If you haven't looked at merrick's pachydermal tail... I mean tale of Ayutthaya, it is being honored with a showcase this week. Coen's story of Ferdinand of Bohemia's dilemma is also very good."

"Director I saw your rant and I agree with you on many points. It is too predictable. Mind you, the first couple books in the series were good, because there were some surprises still, but now.. I am just reading them for the sake of reading them. Hopefully he will do more with the WWII, what with the Kaiser still in power in Germany. Perhaps shake things up and not make it so one sided.

However, I still say thats why the Colonization and World War series are good. Surprises. WWII gets completely changed and shaken up. Its not predictable.

Anyway.. yeah. "

“Arghh Amric today I really need a large beer”. Judge staggers in to the bAAR with the tunnel-vision mode turned on after being up to his ears with work the last days. “Ah that was a flavoursome beer, bet it is Samuel Adams”.

Inside the bAAR Judge overhears an intense discussion about Sci fi or something bizarre at least. Judge not being particularly fond of discussing such matters early in the morning walks over to the plasma TV and sits down in front of it but doesn’t turn the TV on because he needs some silence.

“They only show rubbish these days anyway and the terrible noise hurts my ears on a day like this” explains Judge and orders another beer. “Well instead of getting drunk I really ought to update my AARs and after some trouble with my screenshots I may be able to do that soon”. Judge lifts his beer, “congrats Amric once again”.

EDIT: Just posted an update in my Kingdom of Jerusalem AAR, don´t miss "the quest for Rome"

pours out the various drinks, then makes an announcement.

I know I have said this before, but I am going to say it again. For those of you who have NOT voted for Best AAR: February to Present then you had better do so now. The Voting closes tonight at EST<Eastern Standard Time> according to Lord Durham. I just got that information from that very thread. I am getting my head handed there. Which is okay, but there is only 49 votes. I am VERY disappointed in you!, points to some nameless person,Yes! You! Go vote! I am serious. Let's push this thing up to 60 votes. Or even better. SEVENTY votes. Now get hopping!

Anibal comes into the bAAR and walks straight heading to Amric.

Hey friend, I need to congratule you here in the bAAR for being choosen the Writer of the Week. You deserve it! By the way, can the bAARtender drink whilst working?

It seems that Amric didn't pay much attention, as Anibal was only one among the millions of people who were congratulating him.

He looks around. Found an empty table and sits down. He pays attention to the plasma tv-set, watching the breaking news from the UNN: Universalis News Network.

Hajji Giray smiles at merrick.

"You know, publicity in the bAAR is really the key to success. See, your tale gets mentioned, and it wins awards. When I said my tale was done here in the bAAR, it suddenly won the same award yours did. So you see, you have to say something about your AAR right before The Lord chooses, because it works."

He winks.

"You know, I thought that The Sort-Of History of Austria was pretty bad myself, because of its quite quirky, Monty Python influenced quasi-semi-humor, but other people liked it and now its beign considered for an OscAAR. I don't know whether to return to it, or laugh, or cry.

"The more I look at it now, the more I dislike it...but then anything for an OscAAR, right?" Hajji laughs, and laughs, and laughs, then stops. "If any of my AARs were nominated, that would be my absolute last guess. Surprises surprises."

Now louder: "Hey everybody, you really ought to check out Ferdinand and the Fly. Now that it's done it probably will be the next Showcase AAR. And worth it. And if you don't like the writing (that would be strange indeed), you will like the animated movies!"
