The bAAR: A Place to Discuss and Recommend AARs

that is indeed a very fine aar. I've been paying some attention to it as it has been rolling along myself. Now I have mentioned this before, and I will do it again. For those of you who have NOT voted for Best AAR OscAAR yet, why haven't you? Do I need to think about spiking the beer with Hungarian paprika? There are barely over 30 votes in there. Granted, that isn't bad, but I expected more out of all of you. I know those of you who have voted are excluded from this rant.

But those of you who haven't. Get your posterior to the voting booth and vote! For those who read my Strassburg AAR, and my Sweden AAR know I have all sorts of nifty ways to, how shall I say? Encourage people...

Now for those who haven't voted, go do so! Now! Don't make me wet the end of this towel....and then twist it up...

New Writer of the Week? Yes, Machiavellian! The man of the black top hat is the awarded writer this week. Congratulations to him, people!

After some congratulations, Anibal throws his naval hat into the wastebasket. He was tired of it... now he brings a new thing from his pocket: an small harmonica.

Can I play it, or is it against the rules of the bAAR?

Walks in and notices that Anibal throw away a perfectly good hat. He takes off his black top hat and sets it down, replacing it with a hat that looks like the one indiana jones wears.

"Harmonica's kick arse. I haven't seen anyone comment on it yet, but I really like LD's new Icon. Also, A drink on me for TreizeV, the weekly showcase."

"I'd also like to thank you all for the kind words directed my way and it is greatly appreciated. Things in the outside word are tense these days and this forum is a great change. Usually positive and stress free."

Noticing Anibal throwing away his hat, I put on a new one:

MAlexander finally looks up from a long day of writing. Seeing that he seems to be the only one still wearing a naval hat, he quickly takes it off.

Hey Amric! Can I get a soda?

Drinks very quickly.

Oh yes, and congratulations to Machiavellian on being named Writer of the Week. I would buy you something to drink, but I see Anibal has already taken care of that. Same goes for TreizeV, congrats on your AAR being named the Weekly Showcase.

After the effects of the soda wear off, MAlexander drifts off into a long reverie of Byzantium.

Valdemar slumps into the chair next to Haji,

"I didn't know you were reading it, its been so long since I updated, that only the hardiest of readers have kept up "

He takes a long pull of his beer,

"I truly meant what I asked, I know that something is missing, isn't quiet right, if you know what I mean."

He stood up,

"I need that final twek to make everything flow equally smooth, like Director for instances."

He puts on his coat and waves casually to the regulars,

"See some of you here, some of you on the fields of the FC battles"

 

[Lord Durham]

LD returns from the HoI Mess Hall, walks up to the bar where Amric is diligently wiping it down with the Dirty Rag(TM). "Beer me, sir. Boy, I just placed an FC notice in the Mess Hall. The place is damned near deserted. Don't expect much interest from there. Anyway, The Free Company Tavern & "OOC" Thread: Book VI thread just went up, and there's been a fair amount of activity already." LD raises his beer to Vald and Haji in a quiet salute.

Here you go, LD....Gives him his beer and serves other drinks as well as quickly as possible.

I've been enjoying the newest OOC FC thread. I am not surprised about the HOI Mess Hall....they aren't as active in there as we are here...plus we have characters that inhabit our bAAR that makes it all worthwhile. At least in my opinion it does...

Anibal arrives at the bAAR. Finds a sit.

Beer me, Amric.

He takes a long pull of his beer. (OOC: V, thanks for "teaching" me this expression!)

I already have an idea of my FC character. But I still need to consolidate my thoughts about him. As I said, I have an "idea". In some days I will post his description on the OOC thread.

By the way, I want to invite the newcommers of our community to meet the Free Company. If they want to join, good! But they are wellcome to visit us, any time!

Finishes his beer.

Amric! More! It's good!

Takes the second beer and takes another long pull.

I have just done something special for my portuguese AAR. Look at there: I wrote a poem myself! Yes, I'm used to write some poetry, but his is actually my first poetry written in English. A small poem, related to my tale. I hope you like it and I hope it is good!

It seems nobody noticed Anibal's new hat: a chinese kind of hat, one of those that look like a plate.

 

[Machiavellian]

Wanders into the BAAR after a particularly bad day. Has himself a seat and a nice cool pint of beer. With a sigh of relaxation, he slumps backwards in his chair and looks around.

"Does anyone know any good Jokes, I could use a laugh about now."

With that said, he tips his hat [the indiana jones looking one] towards the friendly regulars and gets to work on polishing off his beer.

 

[Valdemar]

Valdemar nods another thanks you at Lord Durham and then proceeds to the door,

"Well Anibal,we all live to learn, beer drinking words is an important part of that."

Looking into the street at the darkening sky, he shrugs.

"I hope you join the Free Company, its great fun, we'll take good care of you."

Amric, beer Valdemar!

Anibal looks at Valdemar again.

Take this beer and my chinese hat as a gift. New mod? You deserve it! Congratulations! But now I need to pay more attention to the words I speak on the forum... I'm an easy target for you to use the delete and edit buttons!

He finishes his own beer.

Yes, I am ready to join the Free Company. We'll have great fun, I'm sure. It will also be, for sure, a nice experience to me, to work on a big collaborative project and to write with a different style than I'm used to. Until Saturday I post a description of my character.

Now he looks at Amric and firmly orders: Pinga!

hands Valdemar a beer and a pinga for Anibal....

There are only 39 people who have voted in the Best AAR category. I am shocked at the low response. Lord Durham has said that there used to be about twice that amount in the old days. Which tells me that we are not being active enough. The old days were the past. This is the present. I would like to see that the present be more active and involved than the past! So again, for those who have not voted, go do it!

Redwolf blushes as he replied Amric," Sorry Amric, I am one of those who have yet to vote. Unfortunately i feel i should not vote cause i have only read 2 of the AARs nominated and I do not that much free time to read the others. So if I just vote based on the two that i have read, then it's unfair to the others. So once again my apologies for not voting."

 

[Valdemar]

Valdemar stumbles into the bAAR covered in cobwebs and unidentifiable pondscum from the nether regions of the Paradox complex.

"Thanks for the beer, I needed that." he almost whispers to Amric.

Looking around he sees all conversation stop,

"What ar you looking at? never seen a mod before? I've merely been into the dungeons, to a hmm celebration of sorts."

Turning back to Amric,

"Drinks for the house for the next day, then they are on their own."

 

[Judge]

“Ah still remember the days when I thought life was fair Redwolf, have a beer on me, such opinions are rare these days”. Judge slowly picks up a pen to write another update in the Cum Deo AAR. “Hm got to be careful with your words”

MAlexander looks up from his reading to see Valdemar walk in.

So this is the new mod. Well, he looks pretty harmless.

With a flourish of the pen, put his signature on another update to The One True Faith.

Amric! Soda, over here!

Anibal sober? Who might ever think about it?

There are two main issues I want to talk about now. Btw Amric, bring me a green lemon!

He takes a pull on his soda with lemon.

First, following discussions here in the bAAR some weeks ago, I created this thread with some helpfull information to the newcommers of our community. Yes, LD also has basically the same - although rather outdated - informations on the same thread of the LibrAARy, but I wrote some new stuff as well. Newcommer, please read!

He finishes his soda.

Second, I recommend reading The Hitchhiker's Guide to Europa Universalis, if you're sober enough to do it. But, before going there, an advice, as MrT (I will still discover who is he) and others stated before: do not panic!!

And third. I was almost forgeting. Go to the OscAAR Nominations thread and put up your suggestions there for the next month! The cathegory is "Best Comedy AAR". Please, suggest already completed ones if possible. I've already suggested one!

Takes a look around, looking for someone to joke with...

LD stands up and chuckles. "Anibal, Anibal, Anibal. I updated the AARland thread to include 'LD's CornAAR', and moved the post information (that mentioned the bAAR & the SolAARium) from the original third post up to the first post to put them all together. It's true, things were kind of scattered, but they're in one place now. I even changed the title of the AARland thread to make it less intimidating. In other words, your thread is greatly appreciated. I hope more newcomers post their thoughts to it. Heaven knows, I like to hear feedback." With that LD sat back down.

 

[Judge]

“Ahh, nothing like the smell of fresh lime and bitter beer early in the morning”. Despite the fact that it is Friday morning the bAAR is bustling with activity. So much have been going on lately that it is hard to break away from the bAAR nowadays. Judge orders a morning beer and walks over to Anibal, LD and Amric.

“Well last week we had a huge celebration for LD and now Valdemar is buying beer to celebrate his promotion” reflects Anibal while finishing a drink.

“I hope things soon will calm down because with Eochaid away I have constantly been serving beer and drinks for two weeks” says Amric in a somewhat tired voice.

“Even Peter Ebbesen has temporarily returned and threatened to whack Swedes with nuclear weapons, well isn´t that just typical for that man, always full of drama and a distinct taste for overkill solutions eh”. LD laughs and and returns to the plasma TV.

“Guess so, he can achieve the same result with “flaeskesvaeler” says Judge beaming with joy.

“By the way don’t forget to read the latest update in the Cum Deo AAR, things are really getting dramatic in Marienburg. Mr Taskenspieller is whacked, Big Sister has initiated a hate week and Dick has ended up in the Ministry of Love while Ahmed has taken advantage of that and been banging Messalina Beaver. Messalina Beaver was absolutely thrilled when her hate object the semi-intellectual Mr Taskenspieller got some “cutting- down” and Ahmed had some capacity left after a hard night with Messalina Beaver because later he went to see Miss Hoover and guess what happened?”
