War of religion and the decline of Ayutthaya

In 1532 a major sunni powerblock in the north were a constant problem for the future of Ayutthaya. Arakan, the only continental power in SE asia that could rival the military might of Ayutthaya, declared war upon the severely weakened Burmans. Only Taungu were left, both Myanmar and Pegu had since long been absorbed by Arakan. Ayutthaya was alarmed, Taungu didn´t stand a chance, facing both Arakan and Bengal, so, to protect SE asia from the moslems, and to help Taungu to retake some of it´s lost territories, Ayutthaya declared war upon Arakan, bringing, Dai Viet, Cambodia and Vientiane with them.

The grand army of Ayutthaya moved north, to Kwai, to liberate it. Taungu actually won a battle, but aftet that, things started to go downwards for the Buddhists. Bengal had arrived, and they brought the superior armies of India with them. Their numbers were astonishing, easily outnumbering the entire Buddhist alliance. But the fighting continued, Kwai was taken, and the army moved north. For the moment, Arakan was more interested in Taungu, while Bengal spread chaos everywhere, looting Vientiane, and even being as far south as sieging Cambodias capitol. This behaviour shall not be tolerated.

The next thing I have written down is a good amount of bad words, which I won´t write down here, and then the peace deal is shown, obviously I payed Bengal 50d to get them out of the war, and then Arakan was smashed, and I got Kwai from them. Arakan though, were able to take one province from Taungu and one from Vientiane before it all was over. Taungu was now a one province minor. I brought them into my alliance (why didn´t I do that before?), and I made preparations to vassalize them. Which never happened...

20 years later, it all started. I tried to dip-annex Cambodia, but they refused, and all of a sudden, declares war upon me and breaks the vassalization. Ok, no problem I can handle that. My army get´s smashed, and Bangkok is besieged. Then all of a sudden, Brunei to breaks it´s vassalization and attacks me. And that is no joke, they had 22k stationed there, facing my 6k. Holy crap. That´s not were it ends, at this point, Mataram attacked, followed by Arakan and Bengal, my allies dishonored, and eventually declared war upon me as well. When it all war over, Kwai was given back to Arakan, Malacca har declared it´s independence, Java was completely overun by Mataram, and Brunei had taken a lot of small colonies. Only one trading post on Sulawasi (where Makassar starts) and a colony on a far away island were left. After this, I gave up.

The end.

Now you can continue your "random piece of crap" AAR! :D

Yes, I could, but it wouldn´t be more than the weird story. I´m to inexperienced to make my own scenario, so it would just be a different map but with the same events, so the monster Norway I had planned would just be annexed right away by Denmark, screwig up the entire thing. I tried to make my own events, but nothing happened.

But maybe sometime in the future! :)

A sad end for Ayyuthaya. Good writing though. I especially enjoyed the last few chapters about the decline actually. Its good to see you follow through even when things went bad. Well done.

Thanks Duke, those last chapters were my favourites to, at least writing them was fun, not the experience in the game. Now, I´m just going to sit back, and enjoy your Golden Horde aar. :)

Now you acctually have finished an AAR, well done.

AARs about decline can indeed be fun. The only bad thing is when the AAR ends. If you just can keep that from happening you can lose pratically everything. ;)
