Second Lieutenant
The Ancestors of Teműjin: A Chagatai Khanate AAR

This is my first AAR so don’t be too harsh, just trying to have some fun. Now to cut to the meat I decided to try the Chagatai Khanate because I am getting sick of playing as European nations. I chose this nation over Mali, Navajo, and the Incan Empire.

I will be playing In Nomine with the Total World Mod.

Here are the options. (I chose to change lucky nations from historical to random to give this History an entirely new spin)

Chapter 1: Rediscovery of a Forgotten History

“The title Khan means in our language ‘Great Lord of Lords’. And certainly he has a right to this title… He is indeed the greatest lord the world has ever known.” – Marco Polo, The Travels of Marco Polo, 1298
“In military exercises I am always in front and in time of battle I am never behind.” – Genghis Khan, 1224

On October 14th, 1399 Khan Shams-I-Jahan moved into that which would now be his, the Great Palace at Moghulistan, a place of great history passed from one ruler to the next for several hundred years. As a first order of business he made sure the political position of his country was in order:

All seemed to be as he saw fit and he continued on to the Hall of Khans where an advisor was presented to him. Abd Al-Karim Altan Ula was immediately hired to serve as the mind of the Khan on days where he was not able to do his duty.

The Khan knew his place in the world and those around him feared his presence. To the North lay the Kazakh nation, to the West the great Timurid Empire, brothers in our just cause. To the south lay the infidels of Kashmir and Delhi, nations that would soon come to tremble under our might. In the east lay lands long forgotten, a place where our ancestors rode but that has been long since lost from scriptures.

“The mighty look to the west, into the rich nations of Europe and the open coast of the Mediterranean, we will succeed where our ancestors failed,” said the Great Khan as he entered the hall and the doors were shut behind him.

This should be interesting to watch. Count me in.

Good luck. For I usually never get bored with European nations, only because I love to just take total dominance and I never want to play as such second stringers other than some of the European second powers. Unite the world under your banner, now that would be something of epic proportions.

Interesting choice, a very neglected side of the world in AAR terms, I'll be following and see how this develops. Good luck! ;)

1399 or 172 after the Great Khan (GK):

As first order of business, Khan Jahan follows the word of Allah and fortifies the southern stronghold of Altishar to protect it from the bandits of the south.

Shortly after beginning the construction of the fort at Altishar we receive a diplomat at the Halls of the Khan asking to bind our tribe to that of Nogai, our western brothers.

“This shall bind all Khanates and produce a bountiful network of trade and brotherhood that shall withstand time,” Khan Jahan said as he heard of the envoy. “Accept this offer of alliance, it will do us well. Send an envoy to our Timurid brothers in the west and tell them that we have a princess worthy of any lord of the steppe, offer her to the Khan of the Timurid Empire, our tribal ancestors shall become our blood’s brothers now.”

Within 3 days the envoy returned claiming that the Timurid leader had accepted the princess and set up diplomatic relations with the great Chagatai Khanate.

After securing these footholds of fellowship in the west, Khan Jahan looked to the bountiful lands of the south as a beginning to an Empire. “The first nation to fall shall be Kashmir, lands rich in many things worthy of our great Khanate, but first we have issues to deal with.” Shortly thereafter another envoy returned from the Timurid Empire citing this message.

As things appeared to be going well another message came that would have the Khan rubbing his hands for joy. Another alliance offer from another powerful ancestral ally:

Of course the Khan dutifully accepted. “The fate of Allah plays into our hands, we have become the allies of Nogai and the Golden Horde, while securing relations with the Timurids. Now, only the province-nations of the south await our arrival, it is vital that we bridge our great capital to the seas of the Indian Ocean though this will not be accomplished without bloodshed and time.”

Second Lieutenant
The Year 173 GK was marked by a cunning plan developed by the Khan himself. In order to avoid going to war with those who are too strong for us in the south (Delhi) over the region of Kashmir, a plan was developed to attack Sind instead and annex Kashmir as they would join the war as an ally. Sind and Khandesh would be dealt with later. After months of preparation the war began on November the third of that same year. The plan would prove fatal not only to the head of the military but also to one of our assumed allies as shown below. The major issue was that Kashmir did not involve themselves in the war and thus Chagatai was now at war with a distant enemy, the second problem was more serious. The Golden Horde honored their alliance and we are not surprised to hear of this, but the treacherous Nogai refused to enter the war.

NogaiTreachery.png

Many of the first weeks of the war were spent wasting money and troops trotting through the Eastern Timurid Empire simply to get to the enemy of this unwanted war. On March 19th 174, Sind was besieged by the Royal Army lead by Khan Jahan, 6 days later the Frontier Army besieged Bakkar hoping to bring a swift end to this war. The first battle went well for the sons of Genghis Khan and the Sind Army was swiftly returning the very passes it came through with full morale.

The fleeing Sind Army met with the Chagatai Royal Army at Sind for the second battle of the war, again a crushing victory.

Battle2War1.png

September 11th, 174 Was an eventful day as both the lengthy (2 month) 2nd Battle of Sind and the 6 ½ month Siege of Bakkar ended with favorable victories on our side.

Battle3War1.png

On December 9th, 174 Sind fell to our armies and all of Sind (nation) was occupied.

As the war progressed nicely a string of rebellions by Mongolian patriots erupted across our nation, with the Khan tied into a distant war questions remain unanswered, what will happen next?

Good to start expanding early, let's just hope those rebellions aren't of too much trouble
